I wanted to know if it is possible/practical to put a 2g motor into a 1g car, because my freind has a 2g engine and turbo sitting at his house from his totalled car and it is good except the head because the new one he bought had a bad head. This all hinges on whether i can buy the car, of course but if i do and it happens to have the 1.8l then can i swap it? Someone i talked to mentioned the transmission being on the wrong side. I dont know how much of a problem that would pose but given the fact that the only the head needs work it shouldnt be too costly to get running. I dont know if he still has the wrecked car or not, or if he took the ecu or any other parts off of it yet but ill find out. If its not possible, and the car has a 1.8l i guess ill just have to wait to get a 2.0 turbo motor, but if its the 2.0 than i could always get the turbo and put it on, i know he will practically give it away.

No. The 2g motor runs on OBD II, the 1g DSM runs on OBD I. Not saying it can't be done you would just have to rewire the entire car, utilizing the enite wiring harness from another car, plus all the power wiring for the ecu system. You wanted to know if its pratical, NO. just hold out for a turbo 1g, thats what I'm stuck doing right now.
