2G GSX rims ?'s

So, I was thinking about throwing some GSX rims on the Talon. I think it would be a nice change from the factory 2G talon rims. Anyways, I was told that the GSX rims are prone to bending easily and I shouldn't get them. I'm a cheap bastard (arent we all?) and I want to change to a different rim but keep the factory size. I can get the GSX rims for $350.00, but I dont want to buy them if they are only going to bend in a few months. Any suggestions as far as inexpensive rims and or opinions on the gsx rims would be appreciated. I am planning on painting/powdercoating them black and leaving the lip polished. So, any ideas with that look is appreciated also.

I bought a set a while back for my n/t talon ( beater ) and paid $350 with tires. They look nice but I hit 2 potholes and 2 of them were bent. You can get some used aftermarket wheels for 400 .. just do that.

They bend very, very easily. Save your money.

I was on the exact same page as you are. Till i started to poke around and got the same story. Still looking for rims to finish off my comsmetics, then i'm done. Good luck finding rims cause i haven't found any i like yet.

The original GSX wheels from these years are weak. They were made by Chrysler, and they were 2 peice wheels, Spokes were welded to a very thin barrel.

Below is a company that sells aftermarket replicas that are identical to the GSX style, but they are a one peice and stronger....

Pull some rims off a 3G GT. Their the same style, but a heel of alot stronger. Just make sure that their not off the 2000 year. 2001+ used the one piece design.

I have the 99 GSX wheels and I have hit some huge potholes and I have never bent a rim. And when I say huge pot holes, I mean big, because around where I live it is nuts.

I'd use those wheels if I got them for free but that's about it. They weigh 25lbs a piece! My 18s only weigh 18.5lbs a piece and they're not even super light weight wheels. Spend your money wisely and just a set of aftermarkets that will fit your current tire.

I have some 99 gsx rims, paid about 300 with tires and the only way they were dented was when the dude hit a curb. but I've hit a pot hole that was just ridculous didn't do anything to my rims or tires but the guy behind me has some nice rims and it bent his rim sooooo bad. there alright rims. only thing I've actually heard them being bent easily is when you have a flat and you leave your car for awhile like that.

Wow you all are lucky....I have a bend in two of my rims...one's from a pot hole from hell and the other one I have no clue why it bent...
