This is the Build Thread for 2G GSX known as @scram_gsx.

I bought this 1998 Eclipse GSX from Kyle Schram (snug_GSX). Kyle had done a great job gathering best-in-class parts for his build, but decided to sell before completing it. My wife and I drove up to Wisconsin from Oklahoma to pick up the car in late September 2022. Though the car was partially assembled for the transport back to OKC, there is still a ton of work to get it completed. Current plans include having Andy at 1-up fabrication (Tuttle, OK) do a ton of custom fab work, including intercooler piping, custom front bumper exit exhaust with dual waste gate dump exits, custom Haltech 1500 mount under the dash, custom fuel pump mount, new 2G combo tank with radiator overflow and oil catch can, deep set radiator mount, new bumper mount, oil cooler mount and a custom battery box to work around the other one-off pieces. After fabrication is completed, I plan to take the car home to fully disassemble before taking it to RB Customs for paint. Kyle had purchased most of the Carbonetics carbon fiber catalog including the vented hood, front fenders, CSL rear hatch with plexiglass, carbon fiber doors, rear diffuser, and center tail light. I am waiting on the wiper cowl, front bumper and side skirts with lip kit to complete the carbon fiber parts (though I am considering the carbon roof skin to remove the sunroof). Once all of the Carbon panels have been fitted, we will paint the car and figure out a way to use the carbon fiber in accents or graphics. I am not a fan of simply bolting the carbon parts on, without tying them in with paint (not exactly sure what that means yet).

If you read snug_GSX's build thread, you have already seen many of the other trick parts he acquired including:
MAPerformance Stage 5 cylinder head
Built 6 Bolt (unsure of the internal parts right now)
T.R.E. Stage 5 AWD Transmission
T.R.E. Transfer Case
Built rear end with Quaife Diff
Haltech 1500 ECU and all sensors
Haltech IC-7 Display in Carbon Fiber trim
Fatboy Racing International lockout billet shifter
Precision Turbo 6266 T4 twin scroll with
Eaton Motorworks T51R mod
MorrisonFab Top Mount Divided T4 Manifold (ceramic coated) with twin Turbo Smart Wastegates (blue ano)
Frontline Fab Billet Valve Cover
Ohm Racing Coil Mount with Haltech Coil Packs
JMF Billet Intake
Titanium engine hardware
Bosch "fly-by-wire" throttle body and EVO gas pedal
Raven Fabrication Thermostat Water Neck (-16AN) and Water Crossover Pipe
Afco Radiator with fan shroud and -16AN inlet and outlet
Radium Engineering Billet Fuel Rail and Fuel Pressure Regulator
Vamos Design & Fabrication Fuel Cell (clear anodized)
Magnafuel external fuel pump
Sheepy Race huge Intercooler
Volk Metalcraft full tubular suspension and custom tubular rear subframe with tabs for Vamos fuel cell
Ohm Racing "tucked" fuse box relocation wiring harness and engine harness (Milspec connectors)
Special Carbon center console, air bag delete, A-pillars,
Autopower Race Roll Bar
Corbeau Race Seats
Black Leather OEM rear seat
KW V3 Coilovers
CTSV Brembo Front Calipers (copper powder coat)
EVO Rear Calipers (copper powder coat)
OZ Racing 18" Wheels

There are a ton of other parts I am forgetting, so I will update/edit this list as I run across them. I will post pics of the fabrication as Andy gets it completed. Also, I will be cataloging the progress on IG @Scram_GSX. Give me a follow!

Looking forward to hearing what everyone thinks about this build!

Thanks,

Andy at 1-up fabrication started working on fitting the radiator and shroud and discovered there is not enough clearance from the turbo. After researching slimmer fan options, we found it won’t give enough additional clearance, so Andy is planning to fabricate a thinner profile fan shroud.

More progress on the fab work. Andy at 1-up fabrication is killing it. Though he initially welded the vibrant HD flange straight off the intercooler, clearance was going to be an issue, so he opted to weld cast 90s directly to the intercooler, then the HD flanges. More pics to come!

Andy at 1-up Fab completed the hot side and cold side intercooler piping. Ready for powder coating. Trying to decide what color. Any suggestions? I initially wanted gloss black but hate that it will show scratches so easily. Considering satin black or a dark metallic gray? Or maybe I should just clear them?

Next up is the stainless bumper exit exhaust and waste gate dumps.

I guess I skipped the airbox Andy @1up-fabrication created for the 2g DSM using Scram_GSX as the prototype. (Along with the oil catch can and coolant overflow to come)

These will be available for our platform soon!

Alright everyone. Andy @1up-Fabrication knocked it out of the park with all this fab work. His 2G DSM Coolant Overflow Catch Can is finalized and will be available soon! So glad Scram could be his prototype model yet again. Every step gets us closer to the finish line!

When I bought Scram_GSX from Kyle he had already acquired a nice AFCO radiator with -16 fittings and an aluminum shroud & electric fan, but there was not enough clearance between the turbo and the fan motor for my liking. Andy @1up-fab worked his magic again and whipped up this custom slim shroud to provide another inch of clearance.
