I was dead set on the SBR FMIC myself aswell to mate to my bullseye T04b..

but I have a 2ga and live in a Desert (100% humidity and 120* F temps in the middle of summer)

I have a slightly beefed up 2 Row radiator with aluminum end tanks... If i were to rig the Fans to Run all the time rather then On and off.. Would I face Over Heating problems?
should I be worried?

Doesn't your 1G race FMIC have a perpendicular inlet and outlet?

Yes, ours is also perpendicular on the 1G. However take a look at the end tanks. Two things going on here. One the tank was designed with a radius to it. This allows the air to enter the tank more smoothly and be directed in the correct direction with as little turbulence as possible, reducing backpressue. As I said this helps with faster spool up and higher peak HP. Second, the end tanks are tapered which allows a more even distribution of air across the entire core. With most everyone else’s design, not all, the air will generally only make use of 1/4 to 1/3 of the core and results in lower efficiency.
Here is a picture of the end tank from the side.

Dual fans will help. You should have them wired to a switch that you can turn off and on. In your case they will run constantly.

Yes, this will help keep temps down. Like I said before, we have never had a customer complain over overheating problems, not even the two that live in the Las Vegas area. Yes the garrett core is dense, but not enough to cause overheating problems. You'll be fine :thumb:

Ours also uses a tapered and radiused design. We actually did some initial testing with a rounded entank, much like the VP desgin, but deemed it unnecessary as we did not pick up any power or spool time for the extra labor involved. Nontheless, both kits are well engineered and top quality products from companies that stand behind their work. Either kit will make a happy DSMer! :thumb:

Yeah, I was considering that kit as well. But I just wasn't too thrilled with the end tank design, plus it was a little taller than I was looking for.

Refering to our kit??

I'm running a pusher fan between the condenser and intercooler to lessen the chance of overheating.

the end tanks are huge it flows really well also. I was the first 2Ga to get install. AMS im not sure if you rememeber.. ;) Anyways the FM is huge, this summer im doing the 97 bumper converion to create a bigger opening for the FM. All i know is that my 50 trim is happy :thumb:

the core is thick, but i never ran into overheating problems during the past summers. here is a pic of the FMIC.. thats only 1/3 thats showing the rest is up in my bumper :(

I think I've got an HKS re-circ. kit from a long time ago sitting in storage. It's new. Free to anyone who's willing to pay shipping of $15.00.

I have to confirm it is the HKS kit.

Hey Scott, if you still have it.. I'll take it off your hands.. let me know alright..

Yes. Someone at AMS told me it was 13"high, which is a little too big for me.

What in your opinion is wrong with the end tank design? Its probibly the best available. The flow charactoristics of the 2g IC are probibly better than our Evo fmic. We designed the 2g intakes with ultimate flow in mind, and made the kit work around it. The Evo front mount had to be a bolt up so we had to design it to work as well as possible while still making it bolt up. The 2g easily accepts the height of the core. I could barely fit it under my Gvr4 bumper though.

Well it's better than most, but still a bit too 'boxy' for my tastes. Looks like it wouldn't quite be as 'laminar' as possible, for lack of a better term. I'm sure it performs just fine, though. I wasn't trying to insult its design.
