Hi all.......Just wanted to pass along that the 5th gear in 2Gs can be swapped out for an EVO 5th gear IN THE CAR. Will drop RPMS approximately 10% (400 rpms) I'm doing this in the next week or so and I'll keep you posted. Gear cost is approximately $225. Have a safe wk end.

How long did it take you? I remember I had to remove my 5th gear because the slider was jacked up pretty bad and wouldn't stay in gear. I have an evo 1 transmission and Jacks trans hooked me up with the right slider and everything. Needless to say it was a fairly easy repair that didn't take too long.

vfaq.com under drivetrain and then go to rebuild. I followed this and used my own judgment when I did it. I wouldn't suggest it for beginner mechanics though.
