2g engine replace advice needed

so first my turbo went out , and then i replaced that and 20 miles down the road my engine is shot .


someone said it might be the oil pump that killed it and it might be savable...

the sound is a really consistant fast knocking .


if anyone has any opinions on this it be appreciated.


second, if i have to rebuild the engine where could i get a reliable rebuild from under 1700?

if it is knocking then it is 9 times out of 10 going to be a rod bearing.
for 1700.00 you can get a built bottom end,

my friend just got a 6 bolt bottom end for 1,000 it was bored .20 over wiesco pistons,eagle rods,honed,line bored and deacked.

or just get a 2.3 stroker kit they are on ebay for around the price you are looking 4

Yup most likely time for a rebuild. That knocking sound is possibly a bearing and if the oil pump failed then that is the cause for low oil pressure. You can pull the oil pan and check the damage, if its bearings then you can replace them easily, but would have to get the crank polished because in many cases it will be damaged.

Don't buy a 2.3 stroker because they are known to fall apart and don't buy a motor from any person because you don't know who built the motor, why waste the money?

It all depends on your budget and if this is your DD time to get another one while you fix the dsm.

knocking is a rod bearing. time to build that motor!

okay just hold on a second....

i just drained my oil and i dont thing there was any metal shavings in it , if at all there was a little bit of grit at the bottem but u could barly tell what the grit was .


what dose this mean ?

that is what i did in my 2g that i got rid of and the number one rod bearing had spun but no shavings in the pan
it is time to rebuild it

are u sure its not a lifter ? what is the absolute cheapest way i can get out of this problem . i have a mechanic that will work for next to nothing .
