2G dead starter?

I turn my key and the starter motor doesnt turn over, i used to be able to tap on it and it would work but now that doesnt apply. I already ordered a new starter, but i was just wondering if it could be a bad ground? The engine looks like it was exposed to water, because it was swapped out of a Galant. This is my DD so i need it fixed asap.

Im not a huge expert on starters, but I have seen multiple cases of bad grounds that had not been addressed and the guys kept replacing the starter to no avail. Make sure to check on that.

If you are worried about a bad starter ground, here's what I did. I took the ground wire out and took out the bottom starter bolt, I went to home depot and found the matching bolt but longer along with a nut, then I put the new bolt in. I put one end of the ground wire on the end of the bolt going thru the starter and tighten the nut down then ground the other end to the firewall.

If you are turning the key and nothing is happening, check to make sure ## starter motor wire is still on. They can fall off

I just went through this last month. It just happened out of nowhere,I had to tap my starter with a wrench to get it to engage. The wiring was fine just the starter was failing. Put a new starter in and now everythings fine. If you have to physically whack the starter to get it to work i am sure its not a wiring issue..

mine died twice, turns out it was a heat prob from the aftermarket headers, header wrap and and new starter with a lifetime warranty, problem solved

The headers are on the other side. Its a 2.4
