so i posted here awhile back cause i'm having issues with hard starts when my car is cold. it usually takes 2-3 times to get it to hold idle otherwise it just instantly dies out. never happens when its warm. i've been doing research and it seems to me to be the idle air control valve.

i hooked my dsmlink up and the temps seem to read normal for the outside temp so i'm guessing my temp dealybopper is ok. just the other day i have been getting my CEL. it only comes on when its cold, and only while i'm driving and i step on the gas hard. it only stays on for a second or two, and not when i drive normal.

i logged onto the dsmlink but it doesn't show any codes whatsoever. would this be related to my starting issues and the idle air control valve? i also want to note that i have primed the fuel pump through the laptop b4 starting to see if i was leaking fuel pressure but i get the same starting issues so i don't think that's my problem.

any help or tips would be great guys. thanks!

Thanks for your replies guys. It had to have been one of the two sensors I replaced. Just got to work, car started right up after sitting for a day and a half. I'll have to get a ohm tester later and test the parts. I saved em cause I'd like to know which one it was. I do know the iac valve looked fairly dirty. Car runs like a champ now! Idle is dead on.. And started right up!:hellyeah:
battery is 3 weeks old, been boost tested, and the car was tuned professionally at pina motorsports. didn't have the CEL come on at all today. still takes a couple try's for the car to keep running when ts cold.
:ohdamn:

so not a whole lot of replies on here. any ways i thought i'd update. i got home from work this morning and let her cool off. still having the starting issue since my last posting. check engine light still comes on, but not an everyday thing. its very seldom, and still only for a couple seconds under hard throttle.

anyways when i got home today after it cooled off i replaced the idle control valve and the coolant temp sensor. started right up (but it only sat for 4 hours maybe). seemed like the idle shot up a little higher than normal for about 20 seconds (2k) then down to 1500. once warmed it dropped to about 975. check light came on going up the hill still under hard throttle. when go to work sunday night i'll post back and let u guys know if it starts right up or not.

again if anyone has any suggestions let me know :sneaky:

Don't just throw parts at it test them so u save money. Ohm out your iacv both of them. Also check your engine coolant temp sensor. Also check fuel pressure manually. With a gauge that is

yah, i was wanting to test the parts but i think somewhere down the road i lost my ohm tester, so i need to get a new one of those.

i was just researching hard starts and it seemed like the iac valve and coolant temp sensor were the biggies so i tried my luck. we'll see if it works after i let it sit for a day.

as far as the fuel pressure i don't think its leaking out. i've manually started the pump via dsmlink and ran it for 30 sec or so to see if the pressure would build before i tried starting the car. same thing, couple tries to get it to stay running.
