2g AWD tranny output shaft no play Helpp!!!!

Long story short, I put together a stock tranny for my 2g but after I assembled everything back together the outshaft for the t case has no play at all. I know there is a ball that holds the shaft in place and Im pretty sure It was there when I assembled the shaft. I have no idea why it has no play. the tranny seems to spin right all gears can be engaged including reverse. Can any tranny master in here tell me if I should run the tranny even if the output shaft has no play?? I would hate to take it apart because I took forever building it since it is my first tranny build. Please help me I need this car to be running asap. Thanks. 96 gsx

What do you mean by no play? does it turn? with the ball in place its not supposed to move in/out

By no play I mean no in and out play. I thought all good working 2g trannys have to have some in n out play for the output shaft. I even saw a vid showing a freshly built 2g jacks tramission tranny that had some play in its output shaft. Here is the link.

I dont understand why there is no play on mine, I feel confident I did everything correctly. What do you think synthetek??


Oh the shaft on my tranny turns smooth.

You could pull the end cover off and take the viscous coupler off and see if the shaft will slide in and out and double check it.
