I'm hoping to get opinions on finalizing my suspension package, with my first post on this forum :) I've read quite a few posts from JTMCinder, ACM, DG and the bunch. The goal is for an intense street setup that could be mildly competitive at the local autocross events. No regional title goals. A rough ride doesn't bother me, I want the real deal, comfort means little. I've been in a harsh riding car before and me likey. Budget is limited, but I've been saving up for four months. The car is a 1996 GSx, automatic (heh, sorry about the auto).

At the moment, I have; ST front and rear swaybars, the cheap 13" Baer brake setup, 225 Kumho 712's. I understand that the brakes throw me into an undesireable class, but I've been depenant upon the used market to buy everything I own due to the expense of college, to the detriment of buying what I'd really like. RM swaybars, for example. In any event, I'm planning on the following:

Koni Yellow shocks, riding at 500/425. I thought I saw JToby advise a member to revalve them if they were shooting at rates above 450/350.
Ground Control Coils, with 8" springs. I'm not sure what value. I remember reading that Konis are valved for H&R Sports that ride at 430/260. Should I shoot for that?
JIC upper mounts. I know these topics have been fodder for arguments, but I don't understand the coaxial hat thing, or the difference between upper mounts and pillowballs.
Washers to adjust the rear camber.
An alignment.

That's it. With the stuff I already have, and what I'm planning to get, I understand that this won't be the ultimate setup. I just want to have a good time and race a pseudo racecar :) Thank you in advance for the help.

I was running 500/450 on unrevalved Konis. You do not have to revalve at 450/350.

You current biggest problem for autocrossing is your tires. If you are running in STX, then consider Kumho MXs or the new Falkens. If you are running in any other class, get some R-compounds.

Your basic plan for the suspension is fine, but you might want to add some more front camber since you won't be able to get enough from lowering alone with 500# fronts. You can get about a degree from SP eccentric bushings. They are legal in STX and SM, and can be made legal for ESP.
