What's up fellas! Here is the deal, i'm trying to modify an extra FPA that I have to use a -6an bulkhead that will be the connection to the pump. The dillema is that the pump is so close to the top of the assembly that if I wanted to use the bulkhead with a barb, I would have to drop the pump about 2 inches so that I can connect the two with a good fuel hose. Now, has anyone done this? I know it's been done for the 1g but the 1g has a huge gap between the pump and the assebly top, so it's easier.

Does anyone know how much distance there is to play when it comes to the position of the pump with out crushing the sock on the pump? How about doing the bulkhead mod itself. I need some insight because I have some ideas, just looking for outside opinions.

Thanks all!

KJ

^^^ Yes, this method works well.

Another method would be to clip the hard line off of the top of the assembly, while retaining the bottom part. Then, weld the appropriate size AN male bung over the hole. I did this to be able to run -6 line forward from the fuel pump assembly.

You can use a -8 bulkhead and drill out the in-tank side of the bulkhead ID to accept the OD of a walbro outlet.

Good Idea, i already have a -6 an bulkhead, that drilling out thing is what i was thinking about before with it chamfered.

Damn, it's already to late for that I already hacked the f-er off. The tapering of the bulkhead seems to be the best chooice at the moment. Question though, no one ever answered the question of how far can I drop the pump on the support bracket incase I want to use an/barb, so what sayeth you!

You won't be able to drop it much furthur than it already is. The factory AWD 2G tank won't allow for it. It's pretty shallow where the pump sits. You have maybe an inch - nothing like the 1G's tanks have.

I imagine either a drill press or a machinist's lathe.

I'm not sure what size bit to use though. The guy that those pictures belong to did not specify the size, even when asked. Just measure the outlet of the pump with a set of dial calipers.
