Ok I know most of you will say no, but I have found on here from user "JOTT5555", and on a few other sites that 'some' awd exhausts will fit on a fwd. I have heard the N1 will....

Can anyone verify wether they have *actually* tried this ??

I am selling my awd and would like to take my low mile turboback N1 off and use it on my spyder. A plus would be that I won't need a new exhaust whenever I get around to doing the awd conversion.

From what I can tell, the awd N1 just goes under everything, and sits low on my AWD car. I would only imagine that I would have to get creative with 1 or 2 mounting brackets, and as someone had mentioned you can flip them around....

So what I want to know is if anyone HAS ACTUALLY TRIED this, not just speculated ??

Those pictures dont show me anything usefull. We allready know the fwd exhaust bends to run down the middle of the car. And as far as the mounting between those two dp's, they both use rubber hangars. The awd bolts to a rubber hangar, and the fwd just has the metal bar that slips through.

So at this point, we are doing good, Im confident the downpipe will mount in.... However the catback will need to bolt in as well.

And for anyone wondering, NO you cannot use an AWD dp with a FWD catback.
You MUST use a fwd dp with a fwd catback, and an awd dp with an awd catback.

Still pushing on to see if I can get an apexi n1 awd to bolt into my fwd with little to no mods. I'm pretty confident I can do it without cutting anything, and hopefully the worst I will have to do is have a hangar welded in.....

Bumping this thread up so I don't have to make a new one. Anyone ever figure this out? I know the hangers on the downpipe have different location and I'm pretty sure the rear hangers are different also. Can I just get the hanger from the AWD and bolt/modify it to my FWD? I would like to get an AWD exhaust system as I plan to go AWD in the future.

This is a heck of a thread bump, but anyway,
AWD exhausts are straighter than FWD exhaust. AWD exhaust bend to compensate for an extra axle in the rear. It is not just about the hangers on he exhaust system, but the curves of the exhuast system.

Here are a few other threads on the subject.

No they will not work. The downpipe is different, the cat back and the muffler is different. The AWD is straighter and runs parallel to the drive shaft tunnel and goes under the rear carrier. The fwd exhaust runs IN the drive shaft tunnel and bends up and over the rear carrier. If I recall correctly, the sway bars will get in the way if you try to run an awd exhaust under the rear carrier of fwd car..

Do yourself a favor - do your AWD conversion first and then worry about a new exhaust.
