I've searched with no luck, maybe due to reading the wrong posts, but as of this moment, I'm too pissed off to care.

I'm trying to time my engine before putting it back in the car. I bought the $50 "Jay's Racing" timing tool set because I got sick of trying it the hard way. I got the set today, put all the pulleys and belt back on, installed the bolt tool, and tried to set the tensioner pulley the way my electronic manual states.

The problem is that when everything supposedly is in the right positions, the damn T-belt rubs on the washer at the tensioner pulley pivot bolt:confused: Nothing I do seems to change this even though I've pulled everything off and reset it all a few times.

I'm quiting for the night before I start throwing my f#@king tools at something  My manual says that the 2 little holes in the tension pulley have to be pointing down during this process, which I've done. I don't know what else to do and I refuse to take my engine to a shop and let them molest it :toobad: when I know I can fix this.

What am I missing in this process? If someone can clear this up for me, you'll be my f@#king hero

What year manual are you looking at because the 6 bolt tensioner will have the two holes on the top side of the bolt not the bottom to put proper tension on it. I think that is the problem.

Thanks guys. That will help.

My manual doesn't say what year it's for specifically, but I know its for the 2G and clearly shows 7 bolts/holes on all diagrams of the flywheel.

Maybe I shoulda researched the pulley position for my engine in depth prior to this issue. But again, thanks to you both, I'll be going back to work on it after work tonight. Ya'll are my heros. ;)
