ive read different numbers from different sites, i just purchased a new boost controller and gauge, its not here yet, but i wanna know what boost number should i be looking for? whats stock pressure? and i read that my 2g plastic bov is weak and can open early at 9-10psi. is this tru? and do i need 2 upgrade it 2 hold the full pressure? and is 14psi. good 2 keep it at after i get the controller? :dsm:

My 2G stock boost when it was new was about 12.5 psi. If you want to increase it, you definately will need to upgrade your stock bov . . . it will bleed off boost set any higher than 11-13 psi. A stock 1G bov is good for 17-18 psi.I think - or you`re gonna have to go with an aftermarket bov.(HKS,Blitz,Greddy,etc.) :talon:

:dsm:i know ill probably get hit for this, but i found an aftermarket bov w/flange on egay for $50. is anythin better than the stock bov? or is a greddy, blitz, hks that much better?my first turbo car by the way.:dsm:

Yes you will need to upgrade you BOV. Make sure you get everything right before you start turning up the boost. 14 should be at the most for stock.

Yea search first and ebay bov's are hit or miss but most say they leak pretty bad like the stock. 1g may not be pretty but it's cheap and it holds boost.

LOL, idk if me saying 2, made u loose ## concentration, but if u had read the whole thread you would read that i'm trying to clarify the right numbers, your links say 12-14, 15-16psi?? ive seen 11-13.someone earlier said 12.5, another said 14 max. someone on team 2g said 9-10 with stock bov. so idk, im new try 2 get the right number. and typing the number 2 is faster for me,so idk what 2 tell u.ive searched and ive got numbers between 9-15. so ima go with 12. thats been solved, the question up now what the bov, which was also solved. thx spyder

First of all, not every car is going to have the exact same boost pressure. There are things called tolerances. You would know this from reading the links I posted.

Secondly, every one of your questions could be answered with a quick search.

Third, don't try to be a smart ass. If you don't type correctly and nicely you won't get as many responses. And the only thing your doing by typing "2" instead of "to" is, making yourself look like you have no education. This is not AIM. idk, u, u r, and 2 are not TO be used here.

Fourth, read the rules. DSM Forums - FAQ

Here is rule number five:

Use a descriptive thread title

Give as much info as possible and make sure your profile is filled in. No bumping threads (replying to your thread for the sole purpose of moving it to the top of the forum for more exposure).

Do not reply to a thread with "Use the Search" - answer the question, link to the answer, or don't reply at all.

Explain your answer in detail. If someone is asking about which clutch is best for their application, don't just say "ACT 2600". Explain to them why you think the ACT 2600 is the best for their application.

No Guessing - if you don't know the answer for sure, don't reply - we don't need you spreading hearsay and/or misinformation. If your reply contains phrases like "I think", or "I've heard", or "everyone else does it", or "my brother's uncle's friend did it and had no problems" - it is not useful. Only post a reply if YOU know the answer from YOUR own first-hand experience. Instead of replying with a guess, post a link to a thread where the answer can be found, or the same discussion already took place.

If you ask a question and get the problem solved, be sure to reply to your own thread and let everyone know what solved it. If someone helps you with a tech problem, be sure and return the favor by giving that member reputation points for their helpful reply.

Use proper punctuation, spelling, and grammar when you post in our Tech forums. I know this request might sound petty but it makes your post easier to read and helps our search feature find your post. If you take the extra time to type out your post using correct spelling more people will read it. If you use Internet Explorer please download and use the "iespell" feature (spellcheck). eBay bov's tend to kill turbos, they don't seem to be consistent all the time and as stated above are hit or miss. Any that I have seen either leak very easily or just don't open and cause compressor surge. A 1g bov will be more than sufficient for you right now. Assuming you have no fuel mods 14 psi should be your maximum but I would keep it even lower than that. A logger is a great investment, it takes all of the guess work out of questions like this. If you do want to run a bit more boost an evo 8 or evo 9 fuel pump can be had for less than $30 typically and will flow close to what a walbro 190lph will flow without fpr overrun. At that point you should be able to run 15 psi with no problems and pretty much max out your stock turbo. You could easily pick up all 3 of the items stated for around $150

i will be a smart ass when u jump my thread and throw the word search at it, when i did, like i said i found 9-15psi, thats seem like alot to be called "tolerences". i just read another that said 18psi max. if u read the thread that TALONTRAX wrote he said his was 12.5. so that answered it. search isnt the answer all the time. especially when there are so many different answers. you dont like the way i type, dont respond to my posts.

when i put the 1g valve on mine it was at 13.5. you should also do the boost control solenoid restricter removal too that will get you up around 15.5 to 16 psi depending on how good of shape your actuater is in.

where would i get an evo 8 or 9 pump for that cheap?, if i find a 1g bov would i need to find an adapter flange, cause i know my bov plugs in with a clamp i think, the 1g has two bolts right? it'll push that much boost just by removing that spring? will it hurt anything?
