Hi i have two questions hope you guys can give me clear answer

My current stituation:
I have 17X8 +35mm with 235/45/17 tires stock suspension
and yes they are rubbing just a bit, but i want to lower my suspension now.
I've check out Vfaq, which tells me that i need to roll my fenders to solve the rubbing
problem

Question #1:
Now if i were to roll my fenders, then can I lower it about 1.5"? with out rubbing?

Yes or No?

Question #2:
Now if I were to buy 17X7 +40mm, will tires 235/45/17 fit (from above rim)?

Yes or No?

I've searched and searched.. but i couldnt get definate answers
all the answers of posts seem to be drifting off topic,

ND-

235s are too wide for a 7 inch wheel but +40mm offset is a step in the right direction. 235's on a +35mm offset wheel would be very close to the fender, even after rolling the fenders. Unless you have stiff springs and an adjustable suspension, you might have rubbing issues, especially after you correct the camber.

Thank you for quick help~

then to conclude from your reply that i get is this
Answer for Question #1
yes. they will still rub even after rolling fenders and no i can not lower my car
Answer for Question #2
no. tires from 17X8 will not fit, go buy new tires

conclusion, get rims that are +40mm in order to lower the car
and get new tires if i were to buy 17X7 rims

I've got a 235\45\17 tire on my 17x7 rim (42+mm offset) and they *seemed* to fit perfectly on the rim. Not disputing or anything, but they fit awesome on my car with no overhang on the rim.

On question #1, I believe that a 235/45/17 on a +35 offset wheel might no fully tuck under the fender. It is a very close fit. I wouldn't try it unless: A) you could return or sell the wheels if they didn't work, or B) you could keep the tires away from the fenders with adjustable suspension and stiff springs. I'm using plan "B" for 245 width tires on +40mm offset.

I didn't say they wouldn't fit, only that they are too big. I can fit a size 11 shoe on my size 10 foot, but it's not the best for performance. Manufacturer recommendations for most 235/45/17s are 7.5-9 inch wheel.

yes i will be getting new rims to lower my car, but i dont want to buy another sets of tires for it, so i want to use what i have now 235/45/17, but the new rims will be 17X7
now, wildfire how long did you have your tires on that rim for?
any problems?
cause im thinking that since tire is wider then the rim, it might come off when making sharp turns or if i were to hit the tire wall then making a turn
if no problems on that matter then, i think i'll try to fit 235's into 17X7

and what kind of performance problems will i be running into?

I've had my tires on there since last August. And honestly? I like the taller and wider tire. I think it both drove and rode much more smoothy than my stockers. I've not had any issues at all. As Wret mentioned though, its like putting a size 11 shoe on a size 10 foot, but I've not seen any issues *yet*. Doesn't mean there might not be a month down the line. This IS a DSM we're talking about... But yeah, go for it I think. :thumb:
