SO i putting together my motor for my gsx and now looking for a clutch, i dont want the stiffness of a 2600 is there a 2300 pressure plate thats reliable? anyone have any suggestions for a clutch and pressure plate doesnt have to be the same brand but i dont want to go puck or unsprung aslo i dont what to deal with south bend kevlar since i had disengagement issues with the last clutch with that clutch.

my set up will be
manley rods and pistons bored over .20
acl bearings
arps head bolts
oem head gasket
stock head
3 inch turbo back
dsm link v3
evo 3 big 16g at maybe 19psi

I'm running an xtd stage 4 solid hub clutch with an fp red, and 30psi on e85. It holds great, and shifts very fast. The pedal pressure is way softer than an act 2600.
how long have you been runnung it for? i was thinking that pressure plate with a full face disc tho any suggestions??'

This one has a couple of thousand hard miles on it. But I've used many of them before for 400-500whp. I don't recommend any of their other clutch configurations, as I have seen them slip at much lower power levels.

Do you know a good full face disc that I could use. the spec 3+ looks nice but it doesn't give a lot of info on the products

Spec clutches fall apart. I don't use full face discs. Dsms use a small clutch, to get them to hold power, with a light plate, you need a very grippy material.
doesnt puck style clutches chatter, im looking for something streetable without the annoyance of my car jerking because of a super grabby clutch or chatter.

I agree with the XTD 4. Its a great budget clutch although it isn't the most streetable setup out there.

I would recommend you get the South Bend SS pressure plate and TZ-series disc. It's a great setup, holds tons of power, last a long time, and you basically can't ruin the disc from glazing. The only downside to this setup is it takes a good 1000 miles or so to break in.

Tried the southbend couldn't get to disengage even with everything done right, never did fix the problem just returned and Iv read alot about those clutches having disengament issues so I don't want to go through that again.

No I have not tried a 2600 but I don't want to get it to find out its just as stiff as I don't want it to be LOL

You should have sent a message to Tim, I'm sure he would have loved to help you since it would have helped him -to make the clutch better IF it was a SBC fault. Pinpoint the problem... or don't add to the guesses.

I'm sure you won't need a superclutch for your setup anyway plus there's tons of threads on this already.

I have talked to Tim and he gave me a refund. He says my clutch wasn't adjusted right even though the hole in the center of the pressure wasn't a circle so there's wasn't complete contact with the throw out bearing. And I was adjusting and bleeding the clutch for hour's trying to get it to disengage so I'm going to stay away from sbc until I know forsure there disengagement issue is fixed

Well excuse me for the dick post, not many people actually diagnose the problem and end up jumping the gun on a part being at fault.

I've had great luck with my setup. Stock flywheel resurfaced (step height critical, in spec) a fairly used disc and I bought a used 2600 to scrape by. PP was in pretty bad shape but the whole setup never slipped. My evo16g would hit 90% idc on 780cc injectors on a steep uphill so good enough for me. It's not a very heavy pedal but then again I don't hold the clutch sitting. I try stay off the clutch actually.

Oh and no dragging issues, I can put 1st in hold the clutch and rev 8k without a hint of dragging.

I used an XTD stage 4 once but I sheared the rivots right off. I then had Clutchnet (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED) make me a custom disk and I bought a Comp Clutch 2700lb plate. I hold 550hp and 490tq and virtually no chatter.

Well not everyone had a problem but some do and i was one, so forgive me for being a little cautious LOL the only thing id use from xtd is the pressure plate every clutch disc iv researched everyone had problems with so i guess its really just taking a shot in the dark. if i go with the 2300 and it slips il upgrade later it only takes me a couple hours to drop my tranny
