i noticed this morning that the belts are showing thru my tires...not good obviously. so i've been looking at tires, all that are in the same class about. the....

Hankook Ventus Rs2 Z212
Toyo Proxes 4
Dunlop Sp Sport Fm901
Falken Azenis St115

my car is awd so traction isn't my biggest game i guess you could say, but i do like to take corners fast once in a while whether on backroads or highway. so a tire that is pretty sticky and has good tread is good. im lookin for any feedback on the above tires or input of any other tires you would suggest. like the title implies i wanna get 205/55-16 and im trying not to really get over the $85 area.

also, do you think i should go a step lower with some 205/50's instead? the car is stock ride height but i plan on putting in springs that will lower it about an inch or so. any input on that would be awesome too. thanks :thumb:

I got Some nice 17inch wheels for Xmas, unfortunately, my parents ordered the wrong tires, they ordered the 205/40R17, im not complaining ### it was free, but i noticed a big difference in handling when going down in width. If you want to handle really well, i would go with wider tires. If i am wrong on this statement, Wisement, please correct me.

I personally wouldnt go lower than 215/55, or 225/45 Any wider and from what i have been reading, you would need to change your offset.

Not on stock wheels. The 205's are plenty wide for a six-inch wheel width.

Don't go messing with the sidewall height either unless you really know what you are doing. I don't think you'll be happier with the look of the thinner profile.

As for brands; go to tirerack.com. Enter your size. Check off extreme, max and ultra high performance. You'll come up with many brands that meet your cirteria. Many of them have been discussed here. Since these will be road tires, you will want to weigh the grip characteristics against treadwear warantee.

Id go with the ventus rs2's.
My buddy has them in 245's on his mustang and I was very impressed w\ the traction capability of them being so cheap.
