I know that nearly all say that a 3" system is best for a 50 trim that I run. Did a search. Would like to know of any dyno work that confirms that. RNR is having a sale with the 3" at $499. wih muffler+shipping. Now would be a good time price wise if it will make a large enough difference. Comparison is the question with a 50 trim, 2.5" against 3". Thanks, Mark

I don't have any dyno sheets or anything to prove it, but I'm confident that a 3" will yield more power over a 2.5" ;)

Anyways I really just wrote to inform of the RNR system. It took me about 3 weeks to get my system about 6 months ago. RNR is a small operation and people usually wait a month or two before seeing products, so if you can wait I would go for it. I installed my system today and it was a very tight fit. The biggest problem I had was bolting the DP to the stock o2 housing...the nuts don't get much clearance. The system looks good (considering I don't like 5" tips, it looks pretty good) and the sound is good. I should add that I put on a 3" magneflow cat so it helped the sound out. It's loud but throaty with no buzzing. Worth the month IMO.

Edit: You have a 1g so maybe the system will have better clearance.

3" would help significantly...faster the gases gets out the better

I have a turboback 3" stainless setup from RNR. Beautiful exhaust system, easy to install, made big difference in performance gains (no dyno data to prove, but trust me you'll feel it ;))

I would get the RNR again in a heartbeat. BY FAR the best deal out there, excellent build quility as well. If you talk to Ryan and stay on top of your order you can get it a lot faster. I got mine in two weeks

Hope that helps! :thumb:

Thanks guys. RNR says they are a little slow and thus the sale. I have a couple months before the car goes back on the road. I suppose I could sell the 2.5" ss I have from Buschur and the loss would equal the sale difference. Mark

Good decision on the 3". However if you are planning on keeping your car for a while get the SS. Note that the $499 setup is for aluminized steel. It will eventually rust. Also be aware of your emissions guildlines. It is extra to have a cat added to the set up.

Since the tranny died a couple months after I bought the car and cost me $3000. to replace I am keeping it! Who would buy it for 1/2 of what I have in it!! LOL. It's just the extra cash. I had thought out the car and my mods carefully and had them met with the EVO III i had. The darn HP bug bit me and I had thought I killed it. Now I have the 50 trim and 3" makes more sense.
Yeah $100. more for an SS exhaust. The car is stored winters as I am in central New York. The car however is a great example of a 1G AWD Talon. Amazing paint and interior, very well taken care of. I also have to talk to RNR and see if their system has a "test" pipe added that can be changed out fr the converter like the Buschur system. Any of you RNR users can answer that, is there a place that will easily accomodate the cat?
Lastly when I was looking for a muffler to quiet my ride the RNR was touted to be one of the nicest sounding and somewhat quietest mufflers out there. What about that? Mark

Well here are a few things to help you out:

#1 The system is LOUD, def not quiet, not ricey, not retarded, but deep and throaty, sounds awesome IMO

#2 I would def get the SS option, for 100 bucks it was so worth it (I did it on mine)

#3 The exhaust is a slip fit system, you jsut buy some 3" clamps (2 to be exact) to make sure it doesnt come apart. I would assume that the hiflow cat they sell is a slip fit as well and you would only need to add one more clamp to make it work.

Hope that helps!

Does it have a short section for the cat? My Buschur has a short section that woud be removed for the cat.The Buschur also has flanges which is nice. loud must be the way I have to run. maybe a resonator in place of the cat? Mark

Thanks Gene. Does anyne know the place with the best price on the Thermal system? I was actually thinking along his line with a Car Chemistry muffler from Summit Racing. It's 3" in diameter nd 12" long. I could have flanges welded on and use it in place of my test pipe. Mark.
PS: There is all negative feedback on RNR from customer service to missing arts. What's up with that? Then I looked at Buschur and Don't see a turbo back 3" for my '93AWD, but maybe they never had a turbo back and sold me a kit with the parts I needed. Iwill check the receipt.
