2.4L Block Swap- I am going to do it... HELP

Ok I have decided to go with the 2.4l block swap for my 420a. Is it a direct bolt up? What problems will I have mounting this in my 98 eclipse n/t ? I have heard the passenger side mount is the only thing there will be a problem with. How much work will it take to make it fit? What kind of shops Can do this work?

well first off they're oriented differently... the tranny on a 420a car is on the drivers side, and on a 4g6X it's on the passenger side (in our DSMs... it's on the drivers side in an Evo, but that's neither here nor there)

I personally don't see why you couldn't just turn the motor around, however, be aware that you're going to have to do some fabricating to make it work... custom intake and exhaust piping, most likely engine mounts, there may be clearance issues (the "power" hump on the hood is there to clear the timing gears... if the motor's turned the other way, it doesn't really make it very useful)

If you really want to do this, you might look into finding a wrecked turbo to get all the mounts, and drivetrain you need to put it in properly...


Or after typing all of that (I don't have xanga) are you not talking about the 2.4L 4g64?

I am not talking about the 4g64 I am talking about swaping a 2.4L block off of a late modle Dodge Carivan. They Have the 2.4L 420a
 
I still need help on the mounting of the engine! Who know what all cars there were that are cloud cars? Do the Neons have the same 420a as the 98 eclipse? which ones do?
