What do you guys think will be a better setup in my 2g Talon AWD I trying to figure out what would be best for me to do. right now i have a 2.0 6 bolt block ready to go if I don't get over sized pistons, a 2.4L crank ready to go, and brand new set of eagle rods. But I need pistons and I am not sure who to go with Wiseco or Ross and I'm not sure what is the part number to look for for stroker pistons. Also will a stroker motor in a 2g blow my tranny even if I'm carefull can anybody tell me what would be the best thing for my 2g thanks for the help
 
g4cs, g64b, and 4g64 are your 2.4L options. There's no such thing as a "4gcs".

What "horror stories" have you "heard"? Be specific, please. (A quick search of DSMtuners should reveal quite a few very happy 2.4 owners).

The biggest difference you, as an end-user (as opposed to an engine builder) will see is cost: a 2.4 will require you to not only source a crank, but a block as well. Since you already have a 1g with a (presumably) good 6-bolt block, you could go with a 2.3L without needing to locate a new block.

From a builder's perspective, there's quite a few differences, none of which is probably a dealbreaker for you. The rod angles change a bit between a 2.3 and a 2.4, and a few things move around (the knock sensor, for example, moves a bit on some 2.4L blocks).

I will elaborate on this. If it is a daily driver, I would suggest going with a 2.4. If it is just race and little street, the 2.3 will be fine.

The rod ratio on the 2.3 isnt great and increases side load on the piston and also increases piston speed. This in turn creates more friction and potentially wears parts out faster. The wrist pin on the 2.3 is also moved up into the oil control ring in order to accomodate for the longer storke and short deck height of the 4g63 block. That will create the need for a button in the wrist pin hole or a stabalizer ring which makes for more parts to wear or fail. Not something I trust for a daily driver that will see 8k+ miles per year.

The 2.4, on the other hand, was designed as a daily driven engine. It has a more efficient rod ratio and increased deck height so side load and piston speed is decreased. The wrist pin is located below the oil ring so no extra parts are needed for it to work properly and live a long healthy life. This would be the better setup for a car driven on the street in stop and go traffic but will also perform as well or better than the 2.3. The down side is trying to locate a 2.4 6bolt block for a reasonable amount of money.

I am personally building a 2.3 right now but my car is mainly a track car that has only been driven on the street about 200 miles last year. The final decision should really be determined by what you use the car for and what you plan to spend on it.

Ive read that those using the G64B block are using a hole above the AC area on #1 for the knock sensor. What about the hole between #2 and #3 up near the head/block surface? Is it Ok to use that? Or has anyone heard of anyone else using that spot?

Ok..I just read that someone used that hole on a NT 6 bolt block.
 
Other than the knock sensor location, what are the differences with the 2.4 vs 2.0 blocks? Can everything be swapped over one to one, like front case, timing components, oil pan, etc etc?
