1st time problem

I never encountered a problem like this in my past 1G. Car pulls hard, good oil pressure at both idle/running. Boost response is also good. No knocks, no ticks, no stuttering. No oil in pipings whatsoever. Car is completely stock. So here's the situation:

Car doesn't smoke when it starts up or even just sitting idling at desired warm operating temperature, not even at cruising speed. Once you get WOT for about 10-15 seconds car starts to smoke (white smoke) then when you return to cruising speed, it goes away. It leaves a really bad smell like burned rubber after that.

I was initially under the impression that it could be bad valve stem seals but I know this is somehow associated with blue smoke and quite possibly turbo seals, but the smell is the thing that throws me off. Blown head gasket would mean the car would smoke at any given speeds. The only thing that I've seen that may or may not be related is the crack on top of the manifold. I've yet to pull out the turbo.

it sounds like your head gasket is not blown up yet its only getting torn up at high builds, when it weakens out and cant seal thats when it smokes/leaks all the time. but hopefully thats not the case and if it is start buying alot of goodies so when you tear your engine apart you just upgrade it at the same time .

Don't quote me on this but it sounds like a dying turbo to me. You can check your shaft play just by taking your intake pipe off and feeling if the compressor wheel moves from side to side or in and out. If its touching the sides of the compressor housing that is what could be causing the smoke.

+1 on the turbo possibly. I'd run a compression and leak down test just to be on the safe side. No coolant in your oil or oil in your coolant????? recent engine work? has the head been off the block recently?

Pull your intake off and try to wiggle your shaft.

check you pcv valve if its clean after you check the turbo for shaft play and the head gasket

do a leak down test so you can know for sure if its the HG, other than that you are wasting your time in checking the head gasket.

Thanks for all your responses, leak down test is OK. I took out the turbo yesterday and there's a little play, but I think the seals are shot, the same smell is there. Initially, I already did the PCV and I cleaned it just to make sure. No coolant in oil or vice versa, I checked the thermostat housing if there was any indication of crack or loss of fluid due to hoses. I pulled out the head yesterday and put it back in just today to check for cracks and anything else and came back with good results and just swapped it with a MLS and ARP studs.

The car is completely stock, last owner didn't do anything to it except for the lousy raspy exhaust. There is a bunch of small cracks on the turbo manifold, so I'm waiting for a shipment of a evo 3 replacement. I've yet to do compression test.
