We had our 2nd points event of the year today. First thing I got on the computer this morning as rain was likely, dry at that time. I get to the track and switch to the slicks hoping the rain will hold off until my heat. I knew it was going to be a gamble. I talk it over with the crx in my class and we both decided to stay on the slicks despite the clouds looking ominous.
I'm off for the first heat so I'm able to get a ride with an n/a talon running in the STX class. The course is damp at this point but drying up. My heat is up next.
I get to my car and notice as I'm checking the tire pressure rain drops are starting!! Screw it, I don't feel like chancing it just sprinkling and being on the street tires. The course is fast but techinical. I run a 58.5 for my first and best lap beating the crx by 1 sec. Now the rain is picking up and the track is getting wet, I drop to a 60 sec lap time for the next lap after overting 2 spins in the slalom. 3rd lap I carry way too much speed into a fast right sweeper and go flying backwards off the track. 4th lap still isn't bad with the water on the track, the front plows slightly but it's manageable. My last run the course has standing water everywhere and I can't get the car to turn at all, thankfully it was my last lap, I only manage a 65 sec pass under moderate rain.
With our first lap being our best the crx has no chance of trying for a better time and I hold him off for a 1st place. I think it's going to be a good race between me and this yellow crx for 2nd place this year. There's a blue one that neither of us has a chance of beating once he shows up, so I will do my best to try for a year end of 2nd in E prepared.
Once again I was racing the same heat as the camera man but maybe someone got a shot of me, I'll post any pics of our 3 dsm's that I can find once they're posted up.

Thank goodness the local clubs have street tire versions of their classes...)
