1GB DSM Front Lip

I've been searching throughout the year while owning my 94 Eagle Talon TSI AWD, for a Lip. I'm strictly against body kits, mainly on DSM's. Throughout my searching I've seen many people interested but nobody really had any luck, except one guy who wrecked the car with the one off Carbon Fiber Lip, and another guy. The other guy found out that the 2001-2003 Mazda Protege LX OEM Aftermarket Lip fits like a charm. However the problem is, it is about an inch and a half short on each end where it is supposed to mount by the front tires. So you have to modify it. How he did it, I kinda dislike because it makes the lip point downward, as if its a Jay Leno Chin. It doesn't follow the line with the front bumper. After some searching on Mazda forums I have found out that the lip is Discontinued. So I called Mazda, and found out that there is a total of 57 Lips across the USA Mazda Dealers, with a heafty price of 375 shipped! HOLY CRAP! So your going to be looking at around 450 for a modified front lip that fits your car.

After recent discussion, I feel like I can help out. Even tho I'm really poor. I'm willing to buy a lip for 375, and ship it to one of our nice body shops, to have a mold made out of and the modifications to make it fit the 1gb DSM's like a glove instead of needing to be modified by yourself, in either Carbon Fiber, Urethane or the icky Fiberglass. In return I would like to get a Carbon Fiber lip instead of the Urethane lip I purchased from MAZDA.

If a company made like 50 lips, and sold them for lets say a MINIMUM of 150+shipping, they would be pulling in 7,500 bucks! 200+shipping would bring in 10,000 bucks! and 250+shipping would bring in 12,500! I don't want money, Just a Carbon Fiber Front Lip for my Talon.

Photos of the Lip on someone else's car, how he modified it to fit, with the Jay Leno Chin Look, which a good company can fix that and make it fit our cars only.

When I pick up the lip if enough people show interest, I will try it out on a 1ga to see how it fits. Us 1G Guys don't got shhhhhh when it comes to lip kits. I did hear from a few people that the bottom of the front bumpers are almost identical. So maybe this will work for some of the 1ga guys.

Please note I'm talking about the nice looking 1ga bumpers, not those ugly ones, there are already lips for those bumpers. Talking about the GSX Type of Front Bumper.

Now if you don't know what I'm talking about with the Jay Leno, I made a little description.

I seriously dont know why nobody has made a cf lip for a 1gb yet. it honestly has been brought up so many times. Im sure it would not be that hard for a shop to make a few of them for a group buy of for production. one of these shops need to step it up a little bit. Its really not that big of a deal to me, not saying that i wouldnt buy one. But i am more then sure that alot of 1g owners would buy that product.

I 100% Agree. I mean common, there are nasty body kits avail for 1g cars. But no lip kits. I can already say that probably 3 could be sold to my fellow DSM Buddies locally, and thats just here. DSMTuners.com is HUGE and I'm sure if a company made 50, they would sell pretty well and could make some money off of them. I just want the lip Period, cause it matches the lines of the car very well, makes the stock bumper look pretty aggressive. CF or Painted, I just want the lip.

1. I don't think you have much grasp how much a true CF lip will cost to make, disregarding any markup for profit.
2. You cannot go by what DSMers tell you they will buy. If you ever get far enough to actually have something made, figure <5% follow-through by "customers".

No, I have very well every idea of how much it costs to make. I've laid CF Before. But one off pieces are more expensive then bulk order pieces. The materials cost less when you buy more of it in a bulk order than just buying enough to build one.

And even so, The carbon fiber was a suggestion. IF these companies that build our CF Hoods and what not, are too much of a pansy and a carbon fiber lip reproduction of a Urethane lip is too overwhelming, then by all means, just reproduce the lip with the 1" extension to properly mount and fit a 1gb bumper. I wont complain, I'll be a little upset cause a CF Lip would be insanely hot but I'll be way more then content with a painted lip. I just want a damn lip.

That's why I'm getting a want or a need built up so we can have a small, medium or large group buy and some cool crap can actually be produced for us little people with the 1G Bodies!
