my mystery motor.... yeah, all I know is it is a 7 bolt swap. :notgood: anyways, is there a way to tell the difference between a 1GB 7 bolt and a 2G 7 bolt?

Am I just that retarded and they are the same?:ohdamn:

Already looked at that, in fact if you take another look at both pictures the top is a 6 bolt and the bottom is a 7 bolt...

Doesn't matter. 1G 6-bolts and 1G 7-bolts had the same bellhousing bolt pattern. That's specifically why I stated "1G" and "2G" and not "6-bolt" and "7-bolt" in that thread.

so the only difference for 1ga/1gb would be internals then even if its 6/7 same block pattern?

damn it, my transmission bolts from what I can remember look more like a 2G.... but I remember the dowel pins on the outsides like the 1g...:barf:

my bad boss. thanks.

:f-u: myself.

There is more than that. Most obvious difference is 2g 7 bolt has no provisions for the motor mounts. It doesn't bolt into a 1g although a few people have rigged something to make it work.

That doesn't answer this -- unless I'm completely misinterpreting the question:

;)

The first think i would look for is the turbo coolant feed provision in the front of the block. If its there plugged or not then its a 2g block if not its a 1gb block.

This is what i mean. 2g 7 bolt coolant feed.

1g 6 and 7 bolt use the same bellhuosing pattern. 2g is slightly different however you can bolt a 2g bellhousing onto either 1g block without issue.

OP why do you think you have a 7 bolt swap? 93 should have come with a 7 bolt. I don't completely understand your concern.

I understand 93 came with 7bolt but the PO said he swapped a new one in, wasn't sure if somehow he
Managed to get a 2g 7bolt in there or if he just replaced it out of a 1gb.

It's cleared up now though, 2g wouldn't have bolted in correctly without modifications.

Just to be clear the 1ga and 1gb trans bolt patterns are the same. Naturally the internals are different but externally they are basically the same. That is to say accessories, manifolds etc generally bolt up the same way so the motors can be considered interchangeable as an entire unit. The specifics of what is different internally (and somewhat externally) are well documented.
