Hi Everyone,

My car started having this constant knocking noise mainly coming from the driver side of the engine bay and the sound is most dominant around 2k - 3500k RPM, but you can still hear it at idle as well.

I have done an oil change today and didn't find any metal shavings in the oil, I've had the car running and pulled 1 plug wire at a time and the noise didn't change.

The timing components (timing belt, balance belt, tensioners, and water pump) were changed last year, I'm hoping that it's the crank pulley making the noise (can anyone help to confirm or what I can do to confirm?) and any advice would be much appreciated.

Did you make shure the water pump pullies bolts are tight? Can you get a video of the crank pulley while its running? Turn the wheels all the way to the left to get a clear visual of the crank pulley from inside of the wheel well.

I had a similar sound when a bolt that holds the starter plate to the block backed out and my flywheel was obliterating it...it did sound like it was coming from the bottom end/pulley side oddly.

I couldn't get a good video of the pulley from the wheel well, I still have the lower timing cover on the car and it's raining tonight.

As for checking the bolts, I'll have to wait until tomorrow before I can work on the car, I don't have a garage and it's raining and getting dark out :(.

in that video i couldnt really tell but make shure its not comming from your ac pump. i know it sounds funny to check your ac pump but i have a friend that litterally just pulled up asing y his car was making the almost same noise and come to find out that the internals of his ac pump ar shot and clanking arround in there.

Thanks guys for your help, I got around to pulling the belts off the powersteering and the alternator, it turns out my alternator bearings were shot and making that sound.

I got a hugh sigh of relief that it isn't my motor :)
