Hey everyone,

A few months ago, someone smashed into the front of my car while parked outside my apt. I finally got around to getting a replacement bumper for it and I actually found a white laser bumper and a black talon bumper, both from 90-91 cars. I got both and I wanted to put the laser bumper on my car for the winter because my car is white.

My question is, has anyone here replace the bumper and bumer cover? What kind of job is it in terms of how long did it take, how hard is it, things I would need, etc. Are there any writeups on it? I checked vfaq and didn't find anything.

All help is appreciated. Thanks a lot

BEFORE i help you, i will state the quote i usually give to people asking about installing body kits, but holds true for this as well

the quote - " If you have to ask how hard it is to install, and if you can do it yourself, then most likly no you cant."

what does that mean? basically its saying that if you dont know enough to THINK you can do it, you probably dont have enough knowledge TO do it.

however, gotta learn sometime.
basically its not that hard. there is a ton of bolts holding it on and probably ALOT of them will break when you remove them. all the bolts are either 10 or 12 mm for the bumper. you may also need a phillips screw driver to remove those annoying a$$ plastic screws on them. buying a manual for your car would also be a good idea because it shows pictures of the front bumper to give you an idea of where it bolts up.

off the top of my head, theres bolts under the lights holding the cover to the metal bumper support, bolts holding the cover to the bottom of the fender, bolts/screws holding the cover to the wheel well covers, and screws holding the cover inside the opening of the bumper holding the cover to the metal support.

any questions just ask, its late so i may have missed some stuff, if so, sorry

I appreciate the help. When I asked how hard it was, I really meant was there something that I should know before starting that I might not have figured out along the way. Believe me, if I knew to take out this small support when I was replacing my clutch, it would have made the job 10 times easier. But I do see your point. Thanks again
