1g torque converter and a 2g trany. Can it be done? Help!

Alright so I just finished my 6bolt swap in an auto AWD. I was told that a 1g TC would work in a 2g trany and as I put everything together it all bolted up nicely. The TC fit in just fine and slid back into place just like the 2g one did. The problem is, when I started the car and put it into gear... nothing. So was I given wrong info about 1g, 2g torque converters?

I'm not 100% positive, but from what I recall, the 2g trans uses a different TQ converter. I believe the 2g is a lock-up style converter, where the 1g is non lock-up. If you use the non lock-up in a lock-up trans it will overheat. maybe someone else will confirm or clarify?

Im seeing part number MD755239 for a 2g torque converter and MD736841 for a 1g torque converter meaning something about them isnt the same.
