Pretty sure my TCU is shot in my 92 FWD auto car. Bought it as a non-runner. Been sitting for maybe a year. Finally got it running, ECU was toast as the caps leaked and shorted the board. Threw another ECU in, got the car running pretty good. However, it's in limp mode. Haven't checked the codes yet, but it's locked in 3rd gear.

Going through CAPS, I see the TCU's are broken down as such:

91-92 FWD MD750093
93-94 FWD MD754075

91-92 AWD MD750092
93-94 AWD MD754076

My other car is a 94 AWD auto car. I KNOW the TCU in that one is good, but can these things be swapped around like ECU's? Or am I stuck having to try to find a good 91-92 FWD turbo TCU only?

Well to start out the TCUs come in 2 and 3 plug variation. Good place to start would be to take a look and see

92 was a transition year, your TCU could have either three yellow plugs going to it or two.

91 - early 92 = three plug TCU
Late 92 - 94 = two plug TCU

Your car's harness is set up one way or the other. They cannot be swapped..
An AWD TCU would work also, as long as the plugs are compatible..

OK. This is good to know. Guess it's time I pulled it out and found out how many plugs I have. Didn't know there were diff. plug options.

Assuming I find that out, are there any differences between the FWD and AWD TCU's of the same plug configuration?

As long as it has the same amount of plugs your good to go. Even the non turbo TCUs will work, but the shift points will be a lot different.

Anything in the FSM defining the shift points between the turbo/non-turbo units?

AWD and FWD are VERY close to being the same, I would use either without hesitation

1.8 is way off but will work till you find the right one

Havn't tried a 2.0 non-turbo yet
