I have been researching this for several weeks now and I am at my wits end.
-I have a good battery
-New alternator
-tested the alternator twice at auto parts store, and results are always good
-I have gone through all of the wires and ground wires, all check out good.
-My Ford truck battery died coincidentally, so I used the freshly charged Talon battery in its place, the Ford had no problems charging the Talon's battery.
-Today I went through the wires again and tested the voltage (with gauge at battery). It read 14.5~Volts.
I drove it for about 20 minutes and it started backfiring, so I knew something was wrong. I checked the volts and it was down to 12 Volts.
Now I am thinking the alternator is bad. But because the auto store tests it when it is cold, they don't see the "warm" version of the alternator. So I think the regulator is bad in the alternator...
