Does any body know what company makes these? Is it a custom auto body shop thing?

Ahhhh... the skyline tail conversion. More expensive than the supra taillight conversion, and IMO the only tails besides stock that look good on the 1g. Look for them on my car after the engine is built up enough.

Anyone have a source for a company that can get this done, preferably in SoCal?

Also, do they custom-fab it to fit the stock back end housing receivers (ie: order the part and pop out the old), or do they need your car there to fit and rework the back end?

We wants it, precious. Wants it so bad!

its custom done, you'd need to take the car to a body shop to have it done so it would look right. Either that or get good at body work and then do it yourself

you thought they were COVERS? :coy: 100% custom. if the 1g was as popular as the 2g show wise, you would prob see 1g "skylines" as much as you see 2g silvia-supras. IMO supra tails are awesome looking, s15 headlights look great, and the skyline tails are another great look, but they belong on nissans and toyotas, not DSMs. there are a million different thigns you can do to the stock lights (or stock replacement - altezzas) to make your car standout. now i will admit, SOME, but very very few conversions on DSMs look OK, but its still just not my style.

Feh. The only real (ie: non-bodywork) replacement for the 1G tails that I've been able to find are the Altezzas, which are damned eyesores. I can't imagine why anyone would want something that looks like THAT on their car. Then again, some people DO walk around wearing giant rhinestone-embedded gold-plated pendants.

::takes a bow:: why thank you! j/p man :dsm:

As far as there being a million different things you can do with the stock taillights.... us 1g guys only have 2 options of aftermaket... ugh altezzas... both look pretty shitty IMO, you can hit the with the spraycan of niteshades, you can paint your own design over them (horrible IMO) or you can cover them with cut-out vinyl... the only option that i think everyone could agree that looks good is the niteshades. As far as swaps, the skyline tails almost look like they belong there. Either way, it's 100% custme, your car will have to be there getting molded to fit them.

Just wondering... why is it the skyline tails can belong on toyotas, but not dsms???

Finding a shop in So-cal to do the work shouldnt be too hard, just make sure you see some of the shops work first. There's a shop down there called Anaheim Prestige that does a lot of custom body work, you may want to get in touch with them, and they can at least point you in the right direction. If i was to have a taillight conversion done, i would probably go to Bob Grant of Grant Fabrication, however he's up in oroville, and also is very saught after. If you see some of his work, you'll know why though.

im not sure its going to look to good on a 2g ..in my opinion leave the tail lights stock ROFL

Still waiting on this explanation from you, so I wouldn't be trying to make smartass comments back...

  if you actually read my first post, i not only talked about skyline tails, but supra tails and s15 headlights..... just nevermind

Eh. If you want Skyline tails, drive a Skyline. I don't think any tails are sexier on a 1g than the 1gb Talon tails. Mhmm. Gotta love factory goodness.

I like the way they look on the car above. Very good custom work there.

Yeah good custom work, but I feel like I'm looking at the back end of a hotwheels car. Ltd Edition JDM Type z yo.
