Sorry, I should have been more discriptive. I meant the dash lights, since you have the aftermarket gauge faces? Also what color the interior lights on the evo, amber or red?

The dash lights will be matched to a soft blue.

Interior lights on the EVO are redish orange.

Hey man the interior pieces look really good I am currently doing all the interior and carpet in my car, I am doing the middle part of the seats black and the outside of them red as well as ther back I am doing all my interior pieces black also I am painting my Carpet black till I get the money to buy a new carpet. I tried just washing my center console ashtray like I did the rest of the interior and it looked like $h!t. I tried painting the middle of my seats yellow and that really really looked bad. My question is what kinda adhesive did you use on the Center Console? and will this kinda Vinyl paint stay on Leather? I am wanting a different color shifter boot but dont currently got the money for one.

I used adhesive promoter on all the plastics, it ensures paint sticks to it. I also used a spray dye that is intended for this application as opposed to regular spray paint. Never tried it on leather but they do have a spray on leather dye too.

a how-to would be really nice :thumb:

i know you're probably really busy but if you ever come around to it, i'm sure a lot of us would really appreciate it.

I have about six panels left from the interior to do, I'll give it a go this coming weekend. Thanks for all the replies, I never thought very many people would care about interior work.

dont forget, these cars are getting quite old now and the interiors are slowly fading and becoming worn out as far as looks are concerned. i think thats why so many people are working on theirs.

hope to see a write up on all your work someday

keep up the good work :thumb:

Hey guys, I just finished up my interior and on the panels I got some dirt when I was putting them back in. My question is what should be used to clean it? Can we use Armor All? or is their a special kind of stuff we are gunna have to use?

Thanks

Cant answer that if we dont know what you used to paint them.

Vinyl & Fabric spray from AutoZone/Advance And Wal-Mart. Also guiys do paint your seats red b/c the gray shows threw and makes it look a pinkish color. Anyone know where I can get seat covers made specially for the 1g Talon? 93 ES

Dont paint your seats. DOesnt work.

Katskins are nice or you can find a local shop to reupholster em for you.

I say wipe em with soapy water then with a wet rag then dry em.

I disagree, I just did mine the other day and expected for them to come out trashy, but suprisingly they came out very well. I used a whole can on each seat. I think you just need to a good job taping off and apply a liberal amount. I can't afford new seats, or re-upolstering the old ones. Anything is better than the 80's technicolor scheme it had on them before.

Give em a few weeks of use. Trust me we have tried it on about 4 cars.

looks great so far

however, as for the seats... i've seen it last a decent amount of time, but it seems the finished product is no longer a soft fabric, but kinda itchy/scratchy. however, for $5 a can, you can touch it up every other month until you can afford new seats. :thumb:

my only question for painted seats, does it rub off on clothing? for example if you spray the seat black and sit in there with a white t shirt on, will the paint rub off onto that?

either way Id just get seat covers, recovered seats, or new seats before spraying mine

The paint does not rub off. However you will need to touch it up every month or so though. For poor people like me who can't afford re-upolstering or buy new seats it is better than the stock ones.

Becareful what seats you do though, some of these cars were scotch gaurded either at the factory or MORE THEN LIKELY at the dealership when new and will not hold paint very well. SOme do and some dont. My buddies girlfriend has a pink silk shirt to prove it.... OMG Like the guys stated they do have the spray for it and it does work, however it leaves your seats feeling hard and "scratchy" and it MAY run off on light color fabrics depending on the seat.

Thats why id rather do it right the first time...no offense to the painters...But id rather pay a few hundred, to save my 100 pair of jeans, or 50 dollar shirt

I know you said your poor, as most of us are, but you could find a local interior shop and see what they would charge to pull the fabric off and just dye them, as oppsed to getting new fabic, and then put them back together. Obviously most of the cost is labor, as with anything, so if you can dismantle them as much as possible and then bring them to them, it could curb some of the cost.

or getting slapped by the girlfriend after her cloths get f-ed up by the seats ROFL

im not going to attempt this painting seat thing

For plastic, a dye is really better as it soaks into the plastic rather than sitting on top like a paint would (krylon, plasticote, etc..). I have tried a lot of brands and SEM is by far one of the best. We already know better prep work = better results. SEM has a 3 part process for doing the dye job. First is a light abrasive scrub to remove all the oil/dirt and scuff the surface (looks like gritty green toothpaste). Step 2 is a spray on prep that helps adhesion and serves as a final cleaning step. Finally the color coat - I am doing a tan-to-black job on my 97 Spyder GS-T and with several light coats applied every 5 minutes or so per piece I can't tell that they were ever tan now. The dye does not build up like paint so all the texture feels stock, not slick, no paint can smell in the car.

SEM Color Part Numbers - The store I
got my dye from was about 40% cheaper than this site so don't let the prices scare you.

ps- I will post some comparisons with my TSi Tan interior once the rain stops! :notgood:
