Im am looking into buying a dsm. My friend really got me into these cars. I was wondering whether the 1g or the 2g would be a better buy? The other question I have is which model would be better :talon: :laser: or :dsm: ??

wow i could talk to you for days about the differences between generation and which is better for whatever reasons, but it all comes down to personal prefrance.

I like my 2g and i love its airbags.

I would take a 2G Eclipse body over any 1G. I do like my 6 bolt 1G motor though. IMO for 1G, I like the Talon body the best and I love the pop-ups. For 2G, I love the Eclipse with the tall stock spoiler, especially a white one with the dark tint. Which ever you get, you cant go wrong with AWD. It all comes down to what you like the best and how much you are looking to spend.

air bags suck i hated getting smacked the face with 1. 2g looks better, 1g is older more problems, 6 bolt is nice though. The 1g look has grown alot on me, but its all pref. I think 2g awd would be better mix of looks and performance. 7 bolts arent great but some 1g's have 7 bolts too, so just research before you buy something. Best bang for the buck 1g

If you are looking to spend that much, buy a nice 2G AWD shell and drop in a built 6 bolt. You will have plenty of money left over too. You can get ALOT of DSM for that price. You have funds to get just about any model/year you want. It is all on what you like the best.

please dont ever say this again till you have real reason to back it up
Crank walk is overrated and going extinct
larger coolant passages in the head must not be good for some reason
8.5:1 stock pistons get switched out ALL the time by 2g owners

This is a new member, please let him make his own decisions on what is good and what is not.

I am also looking to buy a DSM. I found on at a local dealer. It is a 97 gst. I am not so much into drag but would like to autocross it. Wondering if i should buy this one or buy a
1g and put some money into it right away?

I would like AWD because it will be my daily driver and winter can suck in Michigan. I am having a hard time finding one though and money is an issue.
