hey guys im looking into buying a turbo dsm, but i want to know which one i could get more horsepower out of ........1g or 2g turbo dsm...and the advanteges and disadvantages of both..

It's really a matter of personal preference. The 1G had a higher flowing head and more efficent turbocharger, the 2G had a higher compression ratio. You can't go wrong with either one.

BTW, this question is destined for the graveyard, it's been asked a billion times already.

Way too many to list. Try a search my friend. :thumb:

2g:
Great looks
Higher compression
Better aftermarket (in my eyes)
Great interior
Better exhaust manifold

1g:
Light weight!!!!!!
6 bolt motor
Better intake manifold
Better turbocharger
Better head
Better rods
Cheaper
Alot in junkyards :dsm:

###### missed some.

Both generations are solid platforms. One of the main issues with 2G's is their increased weight and defective 7 bolt engine (crankwalk). Alot of 2G owners choose to swap out the 7 bolt block in favor of the more reliable 6 bolt block from the 90-92 1Gs. The 2G's also have a better suspension geometry, and generally have less electrical problems than the venerable 1G's. A ideal combination of both generations would be to have a 2G with a 6 bolt engine.

It's really a matter of personal preferance.
The engine is the same basically.
The 1g is lighter as they kept adding "features".
Some people like the look of the 2g over the 1g and some vice versa.
The 1g is typically cheaper.
I believe their were more awd models made in 1g.
My .02

A 1g is also gonna be cheaper on insurance. Something to think about. There is also more parts out there for a 2g but they are typically more expensive. Check out these links for upgrade paths and costs:
