1g nightmare!!!!

wats up guys, Ive got a 1990 TSI AWD. I bought the car with a rod knocking, I had a local shop rebuild my motor and swap it back in. They basically screwed the whole job up and now Im stuck with a car that is only running on two cylinders and only one coil providing spark. They put a 2G head and intake manifold on my 6 bolt block and because of this they have a jump wire connecting the 5 prong power transistor (for coils?) to the wiring harness. The light that looks like a bulb on the instrument panel next to the E brake light as well as the check engine light is on. What are some things that can be causing this? Really need to get the car up and running so any suggestions are appreciated.. Thanks!

Wow, was this done by a real shop or some fly by night outfit? From the sounds of it they really screwed you over.

How did they even give you back the car running like that?

In the future, find a decent shop.

oh yeah i deffinately learned my lesson. The shop is called ****** ****** **** ***** in colorado springs. I brought the car back to them, and it took them three weeks to tell me that they think somethings wrong with my wiring harness that they spliced into! And the owner is supposedly out of town and wont be back anytime soon. so im still trying to get in touch with him to get some of my money back.... so I noticed that the coils are bridged together should they be? What does that light on the instrument panel mean? its the one thats next to the E brake light.


MOD EDIT: Let's leave the shop name out of it. It would only incite shop bashing and will not help you solve your issues.

If they are jacking you around that much I would just tell them they either fix it or you will contact a lawyer. If they don't, then call around and see what you can get a lawyer to do. If nothing else, get one of your buddies to go in and say they are with a law firm and they will be taking your case if they cannot come to some out of court agreement. If they really think you are going to take them to court over it and they know they are at fault, they may break without you haveing to actually spend money on a lawyer. Also, did you or they supply the parts? If they did, then you could probably use that against them too. If you ok'ed that part then you might not have as much of a chance. I bet if you play hardball with them, they will back down.
