The one vfaq article said that you should be wary if removing the lower honeycomb, since it lets in unmonitored air. How safe is it on a stock car (first mod)?

Also, since more unregistered air is entering, i know it makes it leaner, but does that mean it burns more clean? In other words, would this make emmissions more efficient or less efficient?

I only ask because I failed emmissions by a little bit, and was wondering if this would help me pass or make things worse.
 
Just as curious as Mystic on this one, I'm tuning NT on this dsm as i have 3 kids and no budget but a passion for dsm's. Personally Mystic, I'm gonna try and find some technical specs before i try to do mine... also i have a spare incase its a complete bomb. I'll post up a link if i find a decent technical diagram
 
Hacking the MAF is a really old school hack for leaning the car out or trying to avoid fuel cut. It's not going to help pass emissions and may cause you to fail since leaner AFR can cause higher cylinder temps which cause higher NOx.

Every time I failed testing I needed a new O2 sensor.
