I cannot find any information about headlights for this car. My local Auto-Zones book does not have any information on the bulbs. It goes back to 1992 which is 1GB and useless to me. :hmm:
Now according to Sylvania's website the 1GA main headlight bulb is an H4666. I have continued to search for the past 4 hours turning up little or no information to what I need to know.
My question is super simple. My headlight bulbs I swear are the OE ones that came in 1990. The color output of them is orangish brown and I would like to buy some brighter bulbs. I have no idea what exactly I should be buying though. Can I just buy the darn light bulbs?
My haynes manual talks about removing the power steering pump as part of the headlight removal??? It doesn't mention whether I can replace the bulb or the whole glass thing. I've seen references in other threads that are super old about somehow replacing the bulb.
Could anyone shed a little light on this subject please? (No pun intended)

1Gs don't have separate bulbs. You have to replace the whole lens/reflector/bulb assembly. Have seen some companies offering aftermarket replacement lights, but can't remember where i saw that. A way around that would be to find a square lens/reflector with removable bulb and fit it in. Be alot easier tweaking color/brightness that way.

As far as removing the lights (from Haynes manual):

1. Raise the headlights and disconnect the battery.
2. Take off headlight door trim and bezel.
3. Remove headlight retaining screws. Don't disturb the adjustment screws.
4. Pull out the headlight and unplug it.
Installation is reverse of removal.

I have not yet seen a DSM with those headlights. Not saying it's not gonna work though. Also look at the list of all vehicles that this light fits. Find lights that fit any of those and they "should" fit the DSM.
Gotta love the "666" in the part number :)

(why do people go to the "CrapZone"?)

Heard of some mods where users would hot soak the H4666 assemblies to soften up the glue to separate the front lens from the body to replace the inside halogen bulbs with HID, or similar bulbs for different Kelvin color temperature - like 5100 degrees Kelvin .. which gives a more natural light than the halogen, which is a lower Kelvin temp around 2700 to 3500 degrees Kelvin .. more like a bright to slightly yellowish color.

Easy to change out: (I don't mess with the battery if you got the headlights off .. I love Haynes... ) hit the button on the dash to flip up the light doors. Take the outer plastic door off and you'll see the four small mounting screws that holds the bulb retainer in place. Remove that retainer and the assembly will come out to get to the plug. Assembly is reverse.

I run the Hella H4 housings that allow you to change bulbs. Do not go with the Fleabay crap. Either get some nice sealed beam lights or go Hella housings and what ever nice bulbs you want.

Do not buy that housing you listed, they are not real projectors and produce pretty crappy lighting.

If you're going to buy anything to replace your OEM bulb, buy e code H4 housings.
Either Hella e code h4666 or something similar like autopal e code h4666.
Hella is more expensive but a bit more refined than autpal.
These E codes have a nice cutoff and are not sealed. Replaceable h4 bulb.

By the way the autopal e codes are the same price as the cheap fake "projector housing" you linked up there :thumb:

Both are easily found on ebay motors or through amazon. Look up other forums to see the cutoff and lighting differences.
Example off Geo Metro site :p
Sealed beam to H4 housings (now with relays!)

I second that!!! Absolute craptastic waste of money.

I'm running Hella H4 shells with SilverStar bulbs... great output! Very bright and with no glare like bozos that run HIDs in these non-HID headlights.
