Ok, I have a 1997 with a 1995 eprom ECU, running DSMLink. I obviously have the chip programmed for CAS inversion and my wires swapped. I'm going to be switching over to a 1g head, but I'm still going to run the 7 bolt bottom end (for now). Everywhere I look, they talk about swapping entire 6 bolt engines into 7 bolt cars, so you have to wire up the 1g CAS to send a signal to the 2g crank angle sensor. As I said, I'm keeping my 7 bolt bottom end, so that doesn't really help me. I just need to make the 1g (or my 97) CAS work, between the ECU and drilling/tapping the cam. If I run my 2g cam, I can avoid this, right? I'll end up getting 272's pretty soon here anyways.
RRE talks about this a little bit. If 1g heads already have the CAS on the intake cam in the same position as the 97-up heads, why does the 1g cam have to be drilled and tapped for my 97 CAS? Should it already be set from the factory?
I'm going to be wiring up a GM 3 bar in place of my MDP sensor, so I don't have to worry about that. I already ditched EGR and all of my emissions. I have a 1g throttle body with the ISC and FIAV removed, and all vacuum lines plugged up. I'll use DSMLink to control idle. I have to use my 2g TPS though.
Anyways, I just have a shitload of questions and I basically need somebody to spell this out for me. And I need a line on those coil and water pipe/neck/line parts.

This opposite signal they're talking about here - Is it just the CAS inversion? If so, I should be all set, right? Since they're talking about swapping the wire order, I can just swap mine back to stock?RRE said:The 97-up style cam angle sensor will bolt to the 1G head without any modification. The wire connector is different so you will need to make a connector for it or get one from a wrecking yard to plug in the wires. The main difference in the sensor is that it gives an opposite pulse from what the 95-96 sensor does. There are two ways to deal with it. (This also applies to swapping a 95-96 ECU with a 97-up ECU)
1) At the ignition coil, connect plug wires from cylinders 1 and 4 into the coil for 2 and 3. Connect
the plug wires from cylinders 2 and 3 into the coil for 1 and 4.
# Coil pack and bracket (MUST be May/90-newer)
# The big water pipe on the front of the motor (MUST be May/90- newer)
# The complete water neck assembly on the side of the motor (MUST be May/90- newer)
# The "u" shape water line that goes under the turbo (any year 90-94)
