Resolved 1G Fuel pump problems

I'm trying to get my 93 TSi back on the road after it's been sitting for about 6 years. I was going to use the fuel pump test connector to pump the old gas out of the tank, but when I put 12v to it, it sparked and nothing happened. Now, I'm not getting any fuel pressure when I crank the car. Fuel level gauge is showing empty, and I just added 5 gallons of fresh gas. MPI relay is good. Is it possible the pump shorted out from sitting so long? And if the pump did go out, would the sender go out too?

break out the multimeter and see if you fried the wires to the fuel pump, check fuses, and check the fuel pump relay. my bet is that you'll find the problem by checking one of these three. since it's been sitting for awhile I wouldn't be a bit suprised if you fried a wire. moisture can get into on the wire through small dryrot cracks on the wire insulation. and it's had plenty of time to corrode and become a very weak point.

ohh make sure to change out that fuel filter imediately. it's probably all gummed up, and if the fuel pump does come on and you still dont have fuel pressure then it's the fuel filter blocked. cheap replacement and it'll save you a headache in the long run.

The problem ended up being that the entire assembly was so corroded that I'm suprised it was still in one piece. Filter was changed when the engine went back together.
