I have been looking around and found a few threads about diasbling it on the 2g and I wanted to know if it was the same way to disable it on a 1g. I found one thread about disabling it on the 1g but the link was broken.

SOooo, does anyone know how to disable the factory alarm on the 1g? If anyone has a link to a tutorial that would help as well. MY factory alarm is pissing me the hell off. It locks my doors after 1 second of them being unlocked. And my hazard lights blink while Im in the car for a good 3 minutes before they stop. Luckily for me the previous owner disabled the horn so I dont have it making noise. It looks like I stole my own car.

Just wanted to add that the headlights flash alogn with the green "Security light" inside on the console and the car didn't come with Keyless entry remote or anything.

In a 2g it is disabled by unlocking the door with the key. I shouldnt say disabled its cut off by using the key. If the car is equipped with the system the light green security should light when you lock the doors either in the car or with the key, it disarms when you unlock with the drivers door key. Dont think that helps but thats how it works. Good luck.

That leads me to another problem for another thread which is:

Someone broke into my car through the driver side door and now the driver lock dosn't work. I just need to disable the whole system and just cut this thing off from the source.

Pull off your passenger side kick panel there will be a box there, pull out the connectors. This will disable the alarm permantly, but you will lose the ability to lock the passenger door with the drivers door lock.

Haha, I had a similar problem (still having it intermittently, actually, because I am too lazy to pull everything apart).

There are connectors on the insides of the doors, as well as under the hood and I believe one in the hatch that trigger the alarm. Get a pair of needlenose pliers and bend the connectors back so they are making a good clean contact. The alarm on a 1g was a dealer-installed option, so unfortunately the FSM doesn't have a WHOLE lot to say about them. When I get home later I can dig out the few diagrams I have and post them up....

OR, like the previous poster said, you could just cut the whole thing off and lose your power locks (which, from the sound of your last post, don't work too well anyway, haha).

Thanks alot for the advice. Ill wait out a little till FemmDSM tries to find that manual. If that dosn't work than I will try your method. I cannot really lock the doors from my driver side door but I installed a keyless entry and will be using that I guess.

I would deff appreciate having those diagrams. Even if they cant help me, the nex time someone searches for the same problem, they will have them on this thread. If you want me to host pictures or something, tell me and I will host 'em on a server that should be up till the end of time so future generations can always find it.

Edit: How do you give props now? I cant get this new format:(

No prob. Thanks for reminding me ;) Give me like 15-20 mins and I'll try and scrounge up what I can on them :)

OK, I have a present for you. Haha.

I went through every 1g manual I have at my disposal (which is, er, all of them), and this is EVERYTHING that has to do with the door locking system and theft alarm system in a 1g. The *only* info I didn't include were circuit diagrams for vehicles with Daytime Running Lights (apparently their Theft Alarm System is wired differently). I included the power door lock circuit diagram, and the main theft-alarm circuit diagram, though, as well as connector locations and control unit/diode diagrams.
Edit: I also included a circuit diagram of the central door locking mechanism on cars WITHOUT theft alarm, for comparison ;)

I put everything in a ZIP file, so if you want, you can take the files and host them elsewhere until "the end of time" LOL.

HERE YOU GO!

OMg. You are great. I will try to see where I get to with this new found info. Im sure Im gonna F something up and be back here with an even bigger propblem. LOL

Now I have to decrypt these Hyroglyphic circuit diagrams. The "Theft alarm Control Unit" that they keep referring to is the one under the passenger side kick panel right? If I do like ChicksDigBoost said, all I gotta do is disconnect ALL the wiring or just certain ones?

Haha, yeah. Knowing DSMs, you will be back here tomorrow with "OK I unplugged the alarm, and the wheels immediately fell off, the doors don't open from the inside, and all the oil spilled out". ROFL

Seriously though, I would try first just unplugging the main control box and see where that gets you. I would imagine that would disable the alarm AND the door locking mechanism (as ChicksDigBoost mentioned). There should just be those three plugs (if I remember correctly). One was for the door locks and the other two were for the alarm control unit. Maybe you could get away with just unplugging the two that contol the alarm, and leaving the power door lock one. I really don't know what that would do, or if it would even be possible. I had my passenger side paneling removed a few days ago - if it wasn't all put back together I'd check it out for you in person...if you can't figure it out, I might go down there later tonight and check it out.

Just see if you can trace the wires around, following the circuit diagram. Maybe a test light and multimeter would help you find a short somewhere.

Good luck. :D

Well, I did what ChicksDigBoost recomended FIRST and was going to do FemmeDSM's way if that didn't work. I uncovered the passenger side kick panel and found the alarm. Its a small boc with only 2 connecters. Both on the bottom. I unplugged the one on the right and the alarm stopped working. I still got my power locks and my keyless entry STILL WORKS! AWESOME! Thats exactly what I wanted. It literally took me 2 minutes to disable it. I hope this solves everyone elses problem and answers the question of "How to disable the factory alarm on the 1g" for future generations.

Thanks guys!
