1g dattalogging help

I have the software on a cd that came with my logging cable but i have no idea how to install this kind of stuff. Why can't they just make a program that when you upload it you don't have to do anything to it?

anyways i tried using my laptop with vista and it seems like none of the programs are really compatible with it.

would it just be ten times easier to buy a palm pilot and install some software on that?

Someone just tell me what the easiest thing to do is. I don't have a whole lot of money to throw around but i need to put on my maf/maf-t set-up so i can tune my new mods but i can't tune until i can get my datalogger to work right

Which software program are you using? If its new flip it over and see if its XP or Vista compatible. Vista was a bastard due to the incompatability issues with several different kinds of software.

Whenever you put the CD in what happens? Does it bring up an install screen? If not have you gone into my computer and manually selected the CD drive and hit RUN?

it was just a cd-r that came with the cable from whoever i purchased it from and on the cd was things like tmo, tunerstein, and one other program i believe. whenever i upload them and try to install them i get crazy errors and the readme's say i need to take certain files and rename them and upload them to different areas.

they're basically the free programs that are already online. Are there better ones that i can actually purchase?

http://mmcdlogger.sourceforge.net/ MMCD is commonly used but im not sure of its compatabilities with vista.

Whenever you upload all the software there should be a few files that have acutal pictures with a name. Try clicking on one of those and running it. OR try searching in the newly installed programs. I had similar issues when putting dynoscan on my palm centro for logging on the 2g

mmcd was actually the third program that i have that i couldn't remember. I've tried clicking on the program and installing them but everytime is no luck. it must be vista's fault. I once had one of the programs up and i clicked log when it was all set-up and ask which port i was using and out of the 4 to choose from (hoping mine was connected to one of them) none of them work and i KNOW that my wire was connected to my car correctly.

i just really need to get this figured out or i'll have to pay lucas english like 300 bucks to do it haha

another problem is WinRaR pops up saying i need to purchase blah blah blah. What should i do?

Try downloading MMCD its free from that link. See if it will work. Its fairly easy to use from what ive heard.

well it still doesn't answer my question about WinRaR or whatever. I don't know what I need to do there. I can't open any programs from it because it says i need to pay for something. what should i do?
