Im trying to figure out if its possible to use a 1g cas in a '95 head. I know it was recently done at my friends shop on a 98 gst that had a 95 head but was using the oem 97-99 cas setup with a 97-99 intake cam. So the intake cam was slotted for a 1g cas.

Now my question is since the 95-96's have the cas on the timing belt side are the 95-96 intake cams slotted for a 1g cas?

There was an old post on here i couldn't find the guy(had a '95) said he kept going through crank sensors then all he said was he went with a 1g cas.

Thanks.

^^^ That is awesome Let me google that for you... hahaha. Anyways original poster it can be done and is fairly easy. It can and most likely will lead to random misfire, a.k.a. an idle that pops occasionally. This can be fixed by rewiring you injectors from the ecu and changing you firing order. The only way i can imagine burning threw CAS is if you are not careful while removing your cams, and or head. I did this to my car because i broke a CAS bought a new one and broke it again. I would personally recommend getting the right sensor and installing it correctly.

Lol Thanks, yeah i know its similar to 6bolt swap. I know it can be done in a 2g head, my friend did this to a 97-99 setup, plus i did some reading just haven't been able to answer my question. And my friends oem 97-99 setup worked out since the intake cam was already slotted for a 1g cas.

Im not worried about the random misfires, i got dsmlink, or i can just trick the barometric sensor.

My question is, are the 95-96's intake cam slotted to accept a 1g cas?

Yes, at least my 95 cams in my 2g are slotted for the 1g CAS. There is also the mounting spot in the head, with a rubber gasket where the CAS would sit.

Cool that's what i needed to know, i was told before not all 2ga heads have a slotted cam.

Yeah i seen that round rubber gasket on the pas side of where the intake cam sits, thats when i figured there might be a slot.

Alright thanks!!
