1G BOV on a 2G

Whats up everyone,
I'm having a small problem. I recently bought a 99 2g which has a fmic and a 16g with all new intercooler piping with j pipe. The imitation greddy bov that was on there was terrible so I decided to get a 1g. The upper intercooler pipe on my car does seem like it will fit the 1g bov so I dont think I need an adapter. However, I don't know where the lines go from the 1G valve. There is the big nipple on the top and then there are the two holes on the underside. I am a newb so go easy on me I know it sounds stupid, but do i just bolt it on and use rtv and a gasket? I have searched and searched and have not found a good picture to show this. Again a picture is worth 1,000 words. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The 1g bov flange is different then a greddy flange.

This is what I have with 1G BOV and it fits with SOME types of GREDDY style BOV. No mods, straight bolt on.

To find out where the vacuum line goes from the big nipple on top just follow the existing one from you current bov. It should lead straight to the intake manifold with NO T's in it. And like you said just bolt it on and go. It doesn't need any adjusting or anything. Just make sure you have the right flange. Punishment racing flanges are made for greddy and 1g bovs. 1g's are wider/longer than the greddy. Good luck!

So if the flange lines up correctly I don't need any rtv or any gasket considering without a gasket it would be metal to metal contact?

Also what about the ports on the bottom of the 1G BOV and pics of a set up would be awesome if anyone has them

You definitely need a gasket. If you install it without a gasket it will leak bad.

By ports do you mean a flange like this:

I had this flange on my punishment UICP, and I had to jbweld the holes so my 1g bov wouldn't leak.

No I mean on the actual 1g bov on the underside. Also where could I get the gasket from? Literally to put it on providing that the flange is correct that I have do i just use rtv and the gasket and some bolts?

You might be able to get a gasket from an autoparts store. I would also use a thin coat of rtv.

The bov i have on the car now looks just like this picture, but the small nipple on the side has nothing connected to it, it's just left unconnected and it is recirculated. Is that the correct way to have it?

There should be a vacuum line running from the nipple on the back to the intake manifold. Without that connected it won't work properly.

I attached a picture, but that nipple on the BOV should have a vacuum line going from it to a nipple on the Intake Manifold. You should be able to see the blue silicone vacuum line I have running in the picture.

Greddy style bov's have an extra nipple on the body of the bov that does not need to be connected to anything for the bov to work. the top one does need to be connected though.

It shouldn't be t'd off anything. There is only one port on the intake that is big enough for the bov. Look at that pic and you will get an idea where it hooks to.

Well I think the other nipple is actually connected to the wastegate and then T'd to the intake manifold

You won't find it at a parts store, you can get them from the dealership or online vendors though.

Would I just ask for a 93 eclipse bov gasket if I went to the dealer

Also I know this is really off topic, but does anyone know what kind of spoiler and front bumper this is? It has really caught my eye.

Just ask for a gasket for a 90-94 bov. They will probably call it a bypass valve, but it is the same thing.

I am currently at work, but I'll try, and upload some better pictures on break so you can get a better idea exactly where the vacuum line routes. Mine isn't T'ed off, and like a few stated earlier, it shouldn't be. The 1g BOV/bypass valve part number is "MR312761" by the way.

Also, If you haven't found out where the vacuum line goes, it's basically to the left, and slightly lower of the Manifold Differential Pressure (MDP) sensor sitting on top of the Intake Manifold. It's pretty much right next to it. Hope this helps, and is useful.

This is where I got my 1g BOV gasket from. I bought 2 to make sure it did seal well, Because to me the punishment racing UICP kit (the flange) looked a bit bent, as in not a flat surface. SO I bought two for safety.

Wow thanks a lot that's really clear now, and that's the only vacuum line that has to be hooked up to my 2g? no other lines need to be connected?

Oh and good news I bought the gasket from the stealership for 6 bucks even though that's triple the price than the dsm graveyard gasket I'll sacrifice the 4 extra dollars
