Ok i have a 92 laser RS AWD

Mods
EVO 3
SBR mani
3 turbo back (no cat)
Fuel system i am doing now
Front mount GM 3.5 maf
SBR LSD insert up front and a ACT 2600 clutch

2 pot piston up front
D2 coil overs 9kg in the front 10kg in the back (one step up from stock from D2)
I am going to do the ABS remove and do SS brake lines

Ok

the question is that i have a EVO MR that i can take the BBS wheels off and get new ones for the EVO but should i just buy new tires and rims for the DSM i want to get something really wide I think want i to use Falken Azenis on both cars because i have had good luck with the tires on my turbo CRX.

1. how wide of a tire can i go?
2. is their a faster steering rack for the DSM?
3. Do i need even bigger brakes?

p.s. i know i should just driven the CRX or the EVO but everyone auto crosses them so i want to be different and autocross the Laser.

Here's your real problem: you have not read the rules before modding the car.

Your front-mount seems to have caused you to delete the bumper support. That puts you in F/Prepared or D/E/Mod. In F/Prepared, you need an inlet restrictor, which I'm 99.99% sure you don't have, so you're in Modified. So you have no chance in heck of winning, so just get anything you want and focus on having fun.

No i do still have the bumper support in the car. I had to do some good cutting on it but i have seen what happens when you have a slow speed bump without it.

I really do not care that much about winning with the car i just want it to be really completive.

As you can see in my avatar photo I am using Evo Enkei's on my car. They stick out noticeably and a 245/45 rubs on stock struts but should clear coilovers nicely. I will be running 245/40 SPT rubber this season to avoid rubbing issues and get my rotation # closer to stock for speedo accuracy. The car looks badass with the wide rubber under it.

Without flaring the front fenders the tires stick out a good 2" with the 38 offset. Even after pushing them out as far as I could they still stick out about 1". I'm making fiberglass fenders to make them tuck.

The rear wheels barely clear the suspension arms but do not stick out of the fender at the top like the front ones do.

I have not heard of a faster steering rack but you could add a ratio box into the shaft under the dash. I can't think of the name of the part but I'm sure it is out there.

The 2 pot brakes are good enough to lock up my tires in Auto X and do not fade so you're fine there.

Oh, and I spanked an Evo9 and two STi's with my lowly 1g so it is very doable and fun to see their faces ;)

Well that is good to hear i guess 245/40/17 would be more then eough tire. I am use to how fast the EVO rack is. That is the only reason i ask. I think with the spring rates i have the stock bars should be good but has anyone ran 10kg and 9kg spring rates on D2 coilovers and have they ran sway bars too or not.

Or X/Prepared

I just got my 245/40 tires on today. The clearance is a little better and with the shorter/stiffer sidewalls on the SPTs all rubbing should be gone.

On a side note, these SPT tires are very sticky :) I took a 15mph hairpin at 25 and a 10mph hairpin at 20 and a 25 at 45 without a single chirp of complaint (private road.)

Yeah i still have the snow tires on my car

so it will be a little bit longer before i move to the summer tires as of right now i think i will just get new rubber for the EVO and put the tires and BBS wheels from the evo on the dsm and call it good.

but do you think i should do bars in the car. cause right now with the hard spring rates that i have i really do not feel much roll but i also think the snow tires give before the roll would start.

I really like that.

I think that is going to go on my wish list.

I am use to no p/s on my CRX and with sticky rubber it sucks when you sit still.

Thanks for the research.

I'm already in street modified due to my s16g, injectors and boost controller.

Not that I'm buying one anytime soon (too much suspension work to do) but would a steering quickener bump me to SM2 or stay in SM?

BTW Doug, milk being in the Novice classing for as long as they'll let you. ;) Really, it is where you belong until they tell you otherwise.

Yeah i just go out their to have fun my friend and i make some carbon parts that they run on EVO's i have a EVO that is alot of fun but i just want to go out and drive i really don't care about winning my class or anything and the girl wants to go out and have fun

So i know i am nuts to race the DSM instead of the EVO

but if something happens to the DSM no big deal it just gets parked tell i fix it (which happens alot) with the EVO now i have to go ask the dealership i have to add more money on top of my payment and insurance to fix the car.

Just not a good deal so i will race the one that is paid for.

I have not Auto X the DSM what i have Auto X is a FSAE race car with a really fast rack. So what i was thinking is that the DSM rack is just to slow maybe it isn't but the EVO rack seems about right at 1 turn lock to lock.
