Hey what's up guys I searched for a ans but couldn't find one so I'm starting a new thread my problem is on my 1992 eclipses gsx automatic I couldn't get It to drive the other day it engages gears but wouldn't move so I jacked the front and rear up and put in drive and only the front wheels were turning I then checked for broken half shafts and other driveline damage but everything was ok the transfer case did not lock up and wasn't leaking I am leaning toward a broken front diff but any help would be appreciated thanks in advance

Btw I can rotate the rear wheels and the darive shaft turns

I hear ya on that one man. Thease guys will burn ya though on that stuff. Anyways yeah it does sound like the tranny needs rebuilt. Maybe insperation to swap it over to a 5 speed? Anyways goodluck hope for the best :thumb:

I bought this car last year for my wife to drive. While she was driving down the highway the car shook a bunch of times so she pulled over. When I got there the car seemed to have a locked up transfer case it would not roll at all. The tow truck pulled it up and broke it free could I have stripped the output shaft splines on the tranny?

It is possible. If the transfer case had locked, she might have been loking at a nice all-wheel slide!! BUt, if the front diff went, the tow truck could very well have broke what siezed. REgardless, looks like some drivetrain work for ya.

I don't believe you can. Also, as it is part of the transmission, if something broke in there, you will want it out so it can be checked that nothing is floating or moving around in there.

Front diff maybe fine considering the front wheels turn. I would look at the transfer case. The center diff turns the output shaft to the front diff and the shaft to the transfer case via the viscous coupler. if the front or center diff was bad the front wheels wouldn't turn either.

I have given up and haven't had time to check it out... I'm buying a 97 gst because my wife took control of my Jetta!
I'm thinking of parting the car out and keeping the motor for a 6 bolt swap, thanks again everyone for your help.
