I have a 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS-T. I'm trying to learn how to fix it myself. I tried looking up online to fix most of this which i did and now I'm down to the last few. I scanned the car for DTC'S and pulled up the code P1400 "Manifold Pressure Sensor". Also The oil return line from turbo is leaking. Coolant hose from oil filter leaking. Adapter leaks. Water pump leaks. I was wondering how much can i actually do myself and how can i fix these problems. The import docs shop quoted me:

Water Pump: 708$
Manifold pressure sensor: 450$
Oil leaks: 150$
Coolant leaks: 160$
Total:1,468$

Thank you.:dsm:

Replacing the water pump will require for you to remove/replace your timing belt. (this is a good time to do your 60k maintenance) replace timing belt and ALL components.

Timing Belt VFAQ
Buy OEM parts only. NO more than $250 for parts.

That price for the manifold pressure sensor is just a rip off.

the oil and coolant leaks are very easy. Check exactly where its leaking from. Buy the gaskets and hoses and replace them.

Buy a Chilton's book like everyone else says.

get yourslef a chilton manual from autozone and read up!! you can do it by yourslef just put a full day aside to do it becuase thats an ass load of money to charge someone for some leaks and a waterpump change. there is alot of info on how to fix it, save some cash for other upgrades goodluck postback

Sure, Id like to know how. Also i did go buy the book. Its semi helpful its just hard to find all these leaks and when i look under this car i get confused.

I would recommend getting a copy of the factory service manual as a reference
for any repairs/ maintenance! it has been my experience that the chilton manuals aren't all that great,(abreveated/incomplete). Follow the service manuals procedures and specs to a "t" and you'll be in good shape!
