Ok so I just picked up a 90 awd turbo talon finally and have a problem with the flipup headlights. They don't. Move up or down you can hear the motors spin but the lights just kinda shake but nothing is blocking them. Also the headlight donnt turn on its kinda wieerd no matter what position I put the light switcch on (beams on, corners , or off) nothing turns on on the outside but the interior cluster lights always stay on no matter what unless I turn the ccar off. I would like to get some opinions of what the issues could be before I get to work on the car again since I'm inn the marines and stationed in florida right now and the car is in NJ. Ill be able to keep it with me in 2 months and when I go home for 2weeks I need to fix them before I take it to my next duty station. Any advice would be great thankyou.

You can try to help them up, by lifting while they are "shaking". Might be stripped gears?
Stupid question: when you try to turn on the headlights, you have the ignition on right (I made that mistake, looked for the problem for a few hours)?

well i am not sure but i remember my cousin was talking about some cam that move the light up and down need cleaning and reoil to help it move up and down. and as for the light it will go back on once you fix the up and down light. so basically you have to remove the light and oil the cam or the gear that moves the light up and down.

Lube the linkages. Mine got sticky and wouldn't move so I manually put them up and lubed the links and now they move like new.

The rods may have popped off as well. Mine used to do that a lot.

In his second post he says they are up, so that might rule out the rods, unless someone rigged the lights up somehow.

You really need to get in there and look at them, my Laser had one that would not go up and it was the rod. I was thankful it was not the motor.

The thing I'm still wondering though is that you can hear the motors but the gears sound stripped but about the electronic isssue is what I care about even more . Do you guys think it could be the entire healight/lighting wiring since no matter where I put the switch the headlights and corners don't turn on and the interior dash lighting is always on and I can't really find out if the headlight bulbs are blown until I buy new headlights since they are sealed beams and I want to convert them somehow so that I can lateer on just change the bulbs not the entire housing expecially since I want HIDS. Any advice on where I can get the coverted housings would be helpful also

Its possible that the hinges are just seized up and causing the the gears to strip. Put them up manually and lube everything and try them again. For the lights not coming on check to make sure you have power going to the bulbs. It could be something simple like a blown fuse or burned out bulbs but could also be a broken wire or a problem with the switch.
