Yup looks like it. Until I got there I didn't know what he was talking about. But I'm definitely going to do that in the morning. And then see if I can find those bushings u were talking about for the assembly.

Alright so I believe, after much help from u guys I've figured out the problem. There's a piece that looks like an L with a 45 degree angle at the top, it has a circular piece that the shifter sits down into. It wiggles freely in that piece. I made a video of it to show what I'm talking about. Now where or how do I get a bushing or piece to fix this? I can make something to work but is anywhere gonna have a bushing for this?

Here's the video

Yeah he clearly left that piece out. Dont ya love going in behind someone to fix the ridiculous rig jobs theyve performed on your car :tease: Ive never been able to find a new one from the dealer, nor do I know the part number, however you can rob one from another shifter- any year and any MT model 1G dsm from the junkyard. That bushing is relatively tough compared to all the others so wear is usually minimal.

Yeah this one was tore up pretty badly, it had slid down and the shifter was only touching a part of it. I got it working better until i can get one though. Solved my main problem too so that's awesome

The bushings Im referring to are in the shifter assembly itself. Ive circled the locations of the bushings in the attached photo. Just so were clear, the brackets that the cables are mounted to on the tranny are wiggling while the vehicle is in gear and NOT the selector levers coming out of the tranny that the cable eyes are mounted on?

One more thing, as long as there isnt any play in the shifter assembly, replacement of the bushings there isnt necessary

Sorry for highjacking thread, I have very similar problem. I have loads of wiggle on The pivot point circled near the base plate. When in gear it allows the shifter to wiggle sideways up to 0.5 inch in each direction (so i can see a full inch of deflection).

I have taken the console off and actually viewed this sloppy wiggle coming from that pivot point. My question is, is there a rebuild kit or updated bushings for this? What are my options to tighten this slop up? Thanks in advance!

:hmm:

Yes, DSM GARY, there is a rebuild kit you can get from Mitsu; though I cant remember the part number, a friend of mine bought 3 sets a while back, so if you cant get the dealer to find a kit, Ill shoot you the part number when I talk to my friend. You can go to the junk yard and tear apart two or three shifter assemblies and end up with a full set of good bushings. The 92- 94 cars seem to have bushings made of better plastic than the 90-91 cars.
