Hi I have a 1990 eclipse gst. first of all I had a bov venting into the atmosphere, mistake.. I returned the stock recirc valve and thats when it started.... rough idle, smoking (black smoke only until reaches operating temp), breaking up terribly until about 3000rpms, after it reaches 3gs it semi clears up. Today I unplugged the maf, 02 and iac and it was breaking up under low throttle (approx 1500-2000rpms, and then whoosh 14lbs of boost although it is bone stock, it just catches and rockets like it should.. Ive been leaning toward a faulty maf and my iac is clicking so I understand that is probably shot too.. Is it possible that the maf is registering too much air and my fuel cutoff is kicking in.. It feels like it since I almost faceplant my dashboard and also smell fuel alot... Is there any way to delete the maf altogether or can I just put a 2g n/t maf and wire it up? Anybody that can help me, please..

other possibilities; boost leak, bad maf, bad cam angle sensor, possible timing issue, A/F sensor issue, possible boost controller issue, wastegate actuator issue, ... change fuel filter lately?

boost leak- if you were messing with the bov or recirc, then did make sure it sealed nicely and everything was tightened down? small leak can cause a big problem, I'm dealing with that on my subaru right now.

Nah, havent changed the fuel filter but I did take it into the shop and the mechanic told me he was reading 6lbs of fuel pressure.. I pretty much shrugged him off cause I didnt think the car would even be running off that.. Man ive checked high and low for boost leaks.. notta

You need to verify the fuel pressure yourself. You'll need to do this with the car is idling and while under load.

You're car won't run on 6psi of fuel pressure. Mine wouldn't even chug over at 20psi.

When was the last time you did any maintenance?
