I'm planning to buy the a set of 5zigen fn01r 17x8 +43offset and planning to put some 225 or 235 on those rims. my question is, this setup will touch my fender if my car is lowered 1.5 to 1.7 (gallery)? someone has pictures of a 2g with 17x8 with a offset of 40 to 43?

I used to run a 17x8 rim with the stock evo 8 offset of +38 and 235/45 Falken tires. The rear fenders had to be rolled, under hard suspension compression I rubbed about 1cm of tire in the rear. With an offset of 43, your tire selection will determine if there is any fender rubbing. That offset should be good for most 235mm tires, but apparently 235 means different things to different tire manufacturers.

Have you checked this page yet?

Dude just go for it and roll the fenders if you have to...it's not that big of a deal. You simply can't fit any decently wide tire on a dsm without some modification, especially 95-96s. If you're suspension is stiff enough you won't have to.

^^agreed...i have evo 8 rims on my car and my rear fenders rub a little bit

I'm running 18x8.5 +44 wrapped in 235/40 tires. No rubbing in the front, minor rubbing in the rear with unrolled fenders major dips. I'm on my phone, but I'll post up pics when I get to a computer if you want.

Edit: guess I don't need a computer, here is a shot that hopefully shows how far the wheels stick out .

Ok I'm confused. I have a 95 awd as well with 17x8 +38 evo 9 enkei's, and have literally 1mm of clearance between the tire and upper control arm. Tires are 235/45/17, how the hell do you fit those?

I've read about the 95/96's having less clearance on the knuckle for the top inside of the tire.

According to CAPS, cars built from 01/94 - 06/95 had part #'s:
MB864931 Left Rear Knuckle w/ABS
MB864932 RIght Rear Knuckle w/ABS
MB864933 Left Rear Knuckle w/out ABS
MB864934 RIght Rear Knuckle w/out ABS

So, from 07/95 - 04/99
MR223655 Left Rear w/ABS
MR223656 Right Rear w/ABS
MR223657 Left Rear w/out ABS
MR223658 Right Rear w/out ABS

The 97-99's have a different knuckle that allows more suspension clearance.
If your car's manufacturing date falls into the 01/94 - 06/95, you have the less clearance knuckles.

Oh, and on a side note, I'm running the same exact set-up on my 97, Evo IX's with 235/45/17's, and I have miles of room.
I'll soon be moving to a set of Falken RT-615's in 255/40/17's ready to rip up the local road courses.

Mine are very close as well. So close that the brand of tire would probably come in to play. I'm running Sumitomo HTR ZIIIs. Honestly I didn't think they would fit either so I bought some 5mm spacers and longer studs, but I tried them on first and they worked fine without ever hitting.

I have 17x8 with 35mm offset and 225 BFG KDW-2. I rub slightly in the rear when I have 3 or more people in the car or lots of stuff in the back. My fender only grazes the tire a little though. With my offset I also don't have a ton of clearance on the suspension side. I don't think there is even a finger sized gap between the knuckle and tire.
