I have a hookup to get some knockoff 17X7 Gram Lights 57 pros at a sweet price and I was wondering what size tires I should go with? When I had 18's on my car I was running my Prokits that I still currently have on the car and was running 225/40/18 tires and there was no rubbing or uneven tire wear although I had a camber kit. I'm obviously going with a lower drop because of the smaller wheels but I don't know if I should go with 205's, 215's, 225's or even 235's. All help is appreciated.

The wheels look like this but I'm going with springs instead of coilovers.

Uhm... lemme get this right. you have 18's on your car now with those springs, and your going with 17's now and you are afraid of rub? Or what are you afraid of.

You will be lowering the car yes, half an inch. But your going with a half an inch shorter wheel. So you dont have to be worried about tires. you can go with some pretty wide tires.

I have a 2" Drop with 17x8" wheels and 245/45 Tires.

No, I had 18's but I sold them so now I just have the Prokits riding on 16 stockers. I didn't rub when I had my 18's and I had 225/40/18 tires. And by the way the Prokits are only 1.2" drop. So you're saying that I can get 245's....won't those look too high and take away the low profile effect?

Com'on people! Start including offset in your posts or stop posting (noise). Please. Pretty please.

Ok buddy here you go: 45 mm

I'll just go with 225's. Don't worry about it.

No... you got the numbers wrong. the 245 is just the width of the tire. The profile is the 45 or 35 or 40 or whatever you want. Thats the tallness of the tire.

So 245mm Wide / 40mm Tall / 17" Wheel

If you put 245's, it will just be a much wider tire... if you do that size with a 45 series .... you'll have a beafy tire. If you put 205's, it will be a thin ass tire with a 35 series... it will look like rubber bands!

I don't know if that was sarcastic or not but seriously, if you want a correct answer you need to provide the correct information.

So what if I forgot the offset. We're not robots here.

With a +45 offset, you're limited to 235/40/17 [small diameter] or 225/45/17 [good diameter] on a 2G. As I have posted too many times, the best street set-up for a 2G is 245/40/17 on a +40 offset 17x8. This will tuck inside a rolled rear fender and still not rub the knuckle.

This is your last chance (if I have any say on the matter).

Grow up. This is a serious handling forum. It is impossible to make suggestions RE tires and wheels if we don't have all the information and offset is critical. Threads about tire and wheel fitment that don't include offset are often worse than silence, since they can mislead people and cause them to buy set-ups that won't fit.

Thanks, I'm sorry I forgot the offset. I didn't know that it was such a big deal. I mean, I'm not the most knowledgeable person when it comes to the wheel and tire world. I'll be getting the 225/45 as I said in my previous post, I should have the set by friday. I'll post some pics of how it looks.

It's not a matter of robots. It's a matter of wasting people's time by asking for something while not providing the proper information to give you the bast answer.

What do you think about sending tire size requesters to this form or some modified version of it?

Offset is definitely a big deal. I have 18's and a 2" drop with no rubbing, my friend has 17's and a 1.25" drop and he has major rubbing issues. It's all about the offset.
